Every year, we celebrate International Women’s Day to honour the achievements and contributions of women and to raise awareness about the ongoing struggles for gender equality. This International Women’s Day, 8 March 2024, the theme is Count Her In but you may ask, what does it mean? When women are given: 🟣the power to speak up 🟣make decisions and 🟣be involved in important economic decisions in society, entire community thrives. What does a thriving community look like?: 🟣Food security for families 🟣Boosted productivity 🟣Growing economy 🟣Generational cycle of poverty ends 🟣Workforce productivity 🟣A society where women and girls take control of their healthcare and reproductive choices 🟣More resources for women to leave violent and abusive situations. Everyone benefits when we Count Her In - to learn, earn, and lead. #IWD2024 #InternationalWomensDay2024 #WomensDay. #CountHerIn #GenderEquality

2024 is a significant year for climate action in Africa and it has become apparent that it is not just the political, technological, and environmental aspects of climate action that need attention, but the women and adolescent girls that are on the frontline of its effects. Therefore, solutions to climate change need to be wholeheartedly and unapologetically intersectional. We have the opportunity to correct course now; through centring and investing women and girls in our climate response. #IWSD2024

Being invested in international affairs is what we do.
The 20th Annual Delta Days at the United Nations is officially underway! Today, 900 members (virtual and in-person) came together during the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women to address poverty, economic opportunity, gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls. Delta Sigma Theta has been invested in international affairs for more than 70 years because our early leaders believed that Delta could be of some tangible assistance, however small, in solving some of the world's greatest problems. As a result, we received non-governmental organization special consultative status at the United Nations in 2003. This year we celebrate 20 years of convening at the United Nations to engage, empower, and elevate our global impact. 🔺Sorors, if you're participating in #DDUN2024 be sure to update your picture here: https://lnkd.in/emup9qhp. #DST1913 #DDUN2024 #CSW68

This International Day of Families, we are sharing insights from Dr Jemimah Njuki of UN Women. In her remarks, Dr. Njuki highlights that women spend 2.8 hours more daily on unpaid care work, limiting their participation in economic and social activities. Interestingly, transforming care systems can create 300M jobs–all while promoting gender equality and supporting climate action. Investing in childcare and women's empowerment is essential. In your opinion, how can businesses reform care systems for a more equitable future? #InternationalDayOfFamilies

March 8th is an emblematic date where the importance of gender equality and the elimination of discrimination against women worldwide are highlighted. This day reminds us of the need to empower women in all areas, protect their rights, and enable them to reach their full potential. In 2024, UN Women focuses on the theme of "Financing Women's Rights" as a crucial step towards equality. This approach requires joint actions to combat discrimination and promote equality in areas such as eradicating poverty and inequality, sustainable development, and a society based on care and support. 💜 PWO Mexico, a company committed to equality and justice, thus we have taken various actions, from breast cancer prevention campaigns to the creation of lactation areas, through inclusive hiring policies that are non-discriminatory. Additionally, there are daily actions we can implement in our environments and circles of influence to contribute to this cause. What other actions do you carry out? #PWOMéxico #PeoplePlanetProgress #GenderEquality #WomensRights #EmpowerWomen #UNWomen

Investing in #WomenAndGirls can bring significant economic benefits for all. Yet efforts in that direction are still insufficient. Progress towards women’s economic empowerment is stagnating or even regressing. On International Women’s Day, United Nations ESCAP and UN Women Asia and the Pacific will convene the #AsiaPacific Regional Commemoration of International Women’s Day 2024. This forum is an opportunity to identify actions to accelerate progress on #SDG1 on ending poverty and #SDG5 on gender equality. More information here: https://bit.ly/3wAPEjb
