Peter Schlosser and Brian Sherman from NSF Engines: Southwest Sustainability Innovation Engine (SWSIE) were pleased to join partners and leaders from 31 EDA Tech Hubs, 9 NSF Regional Innovation Engines, investors, and representatives from the U.S. Department of Commerce and the National Science Foundation at the Innovative Capital Summit in Washington, D.C. this week. After the Summit, Peter and Brian had the opportunity to meet with NSF Director Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan, Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves, and the co-sponsors of the enabling legislation for the NSF Engines, Sen. Todd Young and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, at a reception at the U.S. Capitol. This is a significant moment for the nation's scientific enterprise - it represents the desire of the National Science Foundation (NSF) and The White House to build a solid foundation for future U.S. economic growth accelerated by a robust STEM-based, use-inspired R&D enterprise that brings solutions to benefit society.
