The United States government was founded on a profound and powerful principle: consent of the governed. Our founders believed in a government that exists to protect the God-given, inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—not to control or micromanage the lives of its citizens. The Constitution was designed to limit the power of government, ensuring it serves the people, not the other way around. This vision is clear: government’s role is to safeguard our freedoms, not diminish them by fostering dependence. When we rely on government for handouts or excessive intervention in our daily lives, we risk trading our independence and self-reliance for a false sense of security. These handouts, no matter how well-intentioned, only weaken the spirit of individual responsibility and innovation that has driven our country forward. A free society thrives on empowerment, not entitlement. By returning to the ideals of limited government and personal responsibility, we can reclaim the liberty that made this nation great—ensuring that we, the people remain in control of our own destiny, just as our founders intended.

Does it provide too much freedom for those that wish to abuse it? Or does it, perhaps in contrast to that of the United States and many other nation states, provide relative freedom to remove unsuitable political and civil service leaders without relative domestic political trauma?

A little political humor for anyone still in the mood.... Tomorrow we celebrate Declaration of Independence 🇺🇲. The founding document of the United States, was approved by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, it announced the separation of 13 North American British colonies from Great Britain. Did you know the consituation was written in 1787, ratified in 1788, and in operation since 1789. The United States Constitution is the world's longest surviving written charter of government. Its first three words; "We the People" affirm that the government of the United States exists to serve its citizens. As a kid I had to memorize the preamble "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." What is something you remember to this day from your history class?

On Democracy’s Day: A Call for Peace On September fifteenth, we pause to see, The promise of democracy, bold and free. A beacon of hope, meant to unite, Yet often it flickers, dimmed in the fight. They say democracy is the path to peace, A system where freedom and justice increase. Yet while some bask in its radiant glow, Others still wait, where its seeds never grow. For decades, nations have struggled in pain, Under the weight of oppression's chain. Wounded lands still seek to be whole, Where democracy's promise must play its role. In Gaza, the suffering calls for our care, Where innocent lives cry out in despair. Can democracy bring healing and light, To those long trapped in an endless night? Some claim freedom with pride so loud, Yet shadows of injustice darken the crowd. Old systems persist, where pain remains, And the call for true peace still strains. But democracy’s power, where does it reside? In empty words, or in peace worldwide? Does it uplift, or leave us behind, A promise forgotten, a future blind? With open hearts, we must seek what's just, In the quiet voices that ask for our trust. If democracy is truly the answer we need, Let it sow peace, and let peace be its seed. Today, let us pledge a journey to start, To build peace and justice in every heart. In a world where democracy’s light will shine, And freedom and peace forever entwine. Author: Suleiman
