GRAND RAPIDS ART MUSEUM GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, USA (1983) https://lnkd.in/esSAhwYC This proposal revitalizes the city's downtown area by reusing a distinguished, but now vacant, former government building and by adapting a number of abandoned or underused neighboring structures for additional cultural functions. The main 1908 Beaux-Arts building is upgraded to meet codes and programmatic requirements. A relocation of the entrance from the closed side of the U-shaped building to the open court-yard establishes a direct physical relationship between the museum and its surroundings while creating a single, unified entrance. Covering the court-yard, a translucent inclined plane of stairs has an opening at its center that leads to the Grand Foyer which is a shared space for the different departments. Water descends slowly and evenly from the top of the stairway along a channel carved into the plane, leaving a clear pedestrian path for those walking up the stairs. This water is, in fact, the very water used for the air-conditioning system. In this way, the need for an unsightly cooling tower has been eliminated and this silent cascade becomes the focal point of the city's newest public space. This publication documents the GHETTO exhibition, which was displayed at the Museum of Vancouver between August 23, 2023 and January 1, 2024. GHETTO originally exhibited at the European Cultural Centre (ECC) 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale and Art Gallery of Ontario (2022) before travelling to Vancouver.     For the MOV exhibit, GHETTO proposed a theoretical rezoning project in Vancouver’s False Creek and sought to encourage meaningful dialogue on our collective responsibility to care for one another through the creation of inclusive cities. “How can we live together?” highlights the public input on a housing survey, which was gathered from over 15,000 visitors during the Vancouver exhibition. The Dalton team did some amazing work in the Heritage Gallery at the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta. With such beautifully engineered automobiles in the space, it can be a daunting task to design the environmental graphics. Fortunately, our team made very smart choices to enliven the space and capture the essence of the Porsche experience. - The first collaborative decision with the client was to change the storyline from one about the "features" of Porsche automobiles to one about the "feelings" of the Porsche experience. - Next, our team made very simple, but incredibly powerful, updates to how the graphic spaces were used. From breaking up graphic panels that were previously duplicated to extending a graphic across an adjacent wall that was previously left blank. - The final touch was a complete rethinking of the gallery cards which previously featured only technical specifications and short historical notes about each automobile. Quotations from the individual owners who graciously lend their vehicles to the Heritage Gallery are now the prominently featured headlines about each automobile. The end result is a powerfully engaging space that is relatable to visitors across the spectrum--from owners with multiple Porsche automobiles to the newest aspiring fans. #environmentaldesign #environmentalgraphicdesign #brandedenvironments #environmentalgraphics #experientialdesign #design #creatives #whatinspiresme

The lively integrity of metropolitan culture is advanced by its budding street art. Notwithstanding, the contemporary STATE has become a hazard to the peculiarity of this authentic picture. It is, though, an obligation to reinforce the preservation of these masterpieces in the wake of their expected decline. It has assisted the execution of strategies that have morphed from the nucleus of our society to prevent the falloff of this precious pinpoint in time. Also, an extraordinary way of categorizing, classifying, and collecting these golden periods has led to provocative viewpoints on the cultural importance of street art. It is this veracity, which solemnly implies the safeguard of this wonderous environment, driving the preservation of these futuristic turnarounds.

We are thrilled to announce that The Quiet Enchanting — our installation along the Strand originally only on view until Spring 2024 — has been extended well into the autumn. So if you are planning on heading into central London this summer, we’d urge you to go spend some time exploring the characters and questions that emerge from our myth. The Quiet Enchanting is situated at the heart of the now pedestrianised Strand Aldwych; once one of London’s most congested and polluted streets, it is now home to a ‘creative thinking quarter’ for the King's College London community and the wider public. So when Beatrice Pembroke, Executive Director of King’s Culture, suggested the possibility of showcasing some of our findings from our research residency Cascade Inquiry in the form of a public installation along the Strand… well, we were delighted. Even more delighted to also share an accompanying film edit of the work, with a specially commissioned score by our long term collaborator David Vélez. Designed as a poetic accompaniment to the work, our short film showcases the work throughout the seasons, the many people who have wandered by, wondered what could be different, imagined other ways to be.
