🌟 Celebrating Registered Dietitian Day: Beyond the Table 🥕 Today, we honor and celebrate the dedicated professionals crucial in promoting health and wellness through nutrition: Registered Dietitians! 🎉 This year's theme, "Beyond the Table," beautifully encapsulates the holistic approach that Registered Dietitians take towards nutrition. It goes beyond what's on our plates, encompassing the entire journey from farm to fork. From understanding food production and distribution to navigating grocery stores and farmers' markets, Registered Dietitians champion sustainable, nutritious eating habits. In today's world, where the choices we make about food impact not only our health but also the health of our planet, the role of Registered Dietitians is more important than ever. They guide us in making informed decisions about what we eat, considering factors like sustainability and environmental impact along the way. As we celebrate Registered Dietitian Day, let's take a moment to thank these dedicated professionals for their invaluable contributions to our health and well-being. Whether they provide personalized nutrition counseling, conduct community outreach, or advocate for food justice and sustainability, Registered Dietitians make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities worldwide. Here at the Center for Nutrition & Health Impact, every month is Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month 🍒🥑 In June, we're celebrating all that food offers us—from community to preventing chronic illness—fruits and vegetables are the foundation to a healthy diet. At the core of what we do, equal access to fresh fruits and vegetables is at the front of our research, programming and evaluation. Whether it's supporting more scratch cooking in school lunches, connecting local farmers to local markets or supporting national food banks with innovative programming, improving availability and affordability is key to better health outcomes. Addressing barriers to access and considering social detriments of health—such as economic stability and health care access—is something we weave into our research and evaluation so we can better connect and understand effective programming for better food access. #FunFactFriday! The School Nutrition Association's School Nutrition Industry Conference was recently held in Orlando, Florida and innovation was top of mind. Here are 3 key takeaways from the meeting: 1. Ready or not, AI is here: Imagine a future where students can enter the cafeteria and there are no lines due to facial recognition. 2. Distributors and operators commit to doubling down on communication: It was stressed that foodservice operators should be open to speaking with industry partners about new ways of working together, especially when it comes to figuring out delivery times. 3. Telling the school foodservice story will be more important than ever: School nutrition leaders are encouraged to get involved with their district outside of school by attending sporting events and more. Want to learn more about the efforts being taken to mitigate current supply chain issues and the impending changes to the school nutrition standards?
