I was honoured to share the stage with Prof Michelle Morris for a session that was brilliantly chaired by Christian Reynolds at the summer meeting of The Nutrition Society last week. It was a fantastic chance to share the outcomes and learnings from our many years of work with the team at Leeds University - showing how retailers are using anonymised purchase data to deliver health insights and to help inform better policy outcomes. Our main takeaways: 📍Have a clear brief and hypotheses you both want to test, and agree this upfront. ⏰ Be really clear on the time commitment - but be realistic and keep checking in on both sides 👩🏽⚖️ Data security and legal contracts are a critical component of successful outcomes. Don’t underestimate the time and work involved here. 🥗 When we get it right, the outcomes of data driven health insights can benefit businesses, academia and society - showing what happens in real world settings. And this is invaluable to our food systems transformation.
