Here are five steps to prepare for a career in Medical Device Sales. 1️⃣ Position and optimize your LinkedIn profile for Medtech sales. 2️⃣ Research Medtech companies in your area. 3️⃣ Introduce yourself to the companies. (Don't ask for a job. They will know from your profile you want to enter Medtech sales). 4️⃣ Network, engage and show interest. 5️⃣ Request a short meeting to gain an understanding of a product, an indication for its use, the pathology, the methods of selling. Do not do this to try to get a job with the company but to improve your understanding of the medical device sales industry and to add the experience to your LinkedIn profile and resume. 9 things I’d do every Saturday if I was looking to land first medical sales job: 1. Walk/get sunlight. 2. Hit coffee shop, grab a dirty matcha to get in flow state. 3. On YouTube, research: procedures and products I’d be covering, what physicians are saying about the products, top 2-3 competitive products and what drs are saying about them, what’s new in a particular disease state like Rotator cuff repair. 4. On YouTube, study a sales process like Sandler. 5. Get all these notes onto a PowerPoint 6. Get on LinkedIn “Jobs Tab”, type in “associate sales representative” and my city, then message reps in each of those cities who have openings to ask for a 5-min phone call. 7. After a couple hours, get some exercise in. 8. Read 1-3 chapters of your sales book of choice. 9. Relax and wind down in evening with no phone or stress. Repeat Sunday. You’ve got this!!
