The photo was taken 17 years ago when I conquered Mount Kinabalu with a group of my high school friends. Just six months earlier, I had completed my National Service. Surprisingly, I thought I was fit enough and skipped any training. Our trek started at 7 am, and by the time we reached the station, it was nearly 6 pm. The worst part was that I had injured one of my knees. The next day, hoping for improvement, I found that both knees were extremely painful and barely functional. Should I give up? As we faced the final 3.8 km to conquer Southeast Asia's highest mountain, I hesitated, unsure if I would return. Ultimately, I decided to push on. From 2 am until I reached the peak after 6 am, I literally crawled, my gloves torn and ruined. But when I glimpsed the breathtaking scenery from the summit, I felt every ounce of pain was worth it. The lessons I learned: 1. Be prepared for your journey to avoid unnecessary pain. 2. Setting clear goals and understanding your "why" is crucial; it keeps you going when quitting feels easy. 3. Don’t walk alone; seek support along the way. 4. Embrace your unique pace and strengths; the race is personal. Whenever I encounter challenges now, I recall these lessons. I remind myself that things will be okay; we just need to push through.

Positive Academia is now going on annual leave and we will return energized and refreshed in the new academic year in September. We like to finish this academic year with a reflective quote: "You have two essential tasks in life: to be a good person and to pursue the occupation that you love. Everything else is a waste of energy and a squandering of your potential." -Ryan Holiday Whatever you do and wherever you are we are wishing you a happy summer break! Enjoy the time and make most out of it! Best wishes, Christa Sathish, Anne-Wil Harzing & Nila Sathish #empowerment #changemakers #phd #research #university

In case you have not had time to watch this, please do. This video was created not only for marketing purposes, but for ourselves, our employees, our families and friends. In the midst of the daily grind, the challenging and frustrating days (and sometimes the good ones) it reminds us from a birds eye view, our purpose at work. Why we show up everyday and give our best, how we support our families, and best of all, showcase our finished product, our sense of belonging and accomplishment. If you do not have a video like this of your team, I suggest you make one (and update every few years) it is easy to do, does not have to cost a lot of money, and is a real morale booster. #craftmanship#teamwork#luxuryinteriors#handcrafted

As we move into day 6 of the New Year I wanted to remind every one of something important. The challenges you have set out in front of you for the New Year are not characteristics of someone you want to be. They are of someone you are. Do not let the challenge of becoming someone you are not keep you from recognizing that the person you want to be, IS who you are. You ARE the person that wakes up at X every day. You ARE the person that goes on that run. You ARE the person that plays the guitar. Do not let the thought of striving keep you from understanding that person is under there somewhere. Just start with small steps to set up a system, remove distractions, and reprioritize your time. Hope everyone’s New Year is off to a great start! #newyearsameyou

Can you have your Best Year Yet? Shouldn't each year be your Best Year? We decide what makes up the components of our life. What we do, who we are with, how we think and feel, the direction we want to go, the goals we have, and generally our entire life is mostly up to us. Many people fail to choose the life they want and end up bouncing around like a pinball in a glass enclosed machine. Many years ago a mentor of mine told me, I am either working on my own dreams or I am working for someone else's dreams. We get to choose. What would your Best Year look like. Think about it, visualize it, and then develop a plan to go after it. It won't be a cake walk and may prove nearly impossible, but it is possible and achievable. Here's to your Best Year Yet, and now go for it.

On average, students start looking into their future plans, specifically college, during their Junior year. That is entirely way too late. Why do I say that? Freshman and Sophomore years are just as crucial as your Junior year regarding your college application. You may not think anything of it, but your extracurricular activities, grades, volunteer work, internships, etc., all matter when crafting the perfect application. If you start thinking about your future plans during your Junior year or even later, you are completely limiting your options. Schedule a Free Pre-Discovery meeting with The College Confidence Coach today, and let's chat! Avoid the College Money-Pit Trap. Avoid the External Self-Validation Trap. I invite you to look at our Company Overview Booklet below. ⬇️ The College Confidence Coach Evan Giokas

📌This is my last post. I’m done posting. My content isn’t good enough, and I’ve run out of ideas, so I’m calling it quits. We all face these thoughts at some point. There will be moments when you start doubting everything – your content, your strategies, your entire path. It’s not just you; it’s me too, and I believe everyone feels this way at some point. During these times of doubt, we must become our own best friends and support ourselves. It’s easy to get lost in negativity, but don’t let it consume you. Remember, there’s always something better waiting. When one door closes, another opens. It may take time, but it will be worth it. We can always: - Face the situation, - Learn from it, - Move past it. I always aim to: - Accept the reality, - Work to improve, - Keep faith in myself, - Continuously seek improvement. What does it take? -Dedication and determination. If you’re passionate about something, quitting is never an option. Not now, not ever.
