How can we ensure that our services, policies and procedures are set up to avoid harm? New open access resources explore innovation in response to extra-familial risks. The videos share developing findings from the Innovate Project and focus on supporting innovation work in children’s social care. Alongside the resources, a new video with Dr Karen Treisman looks at the steps we can take to ensure our organisations become trauma reducing instead of trauma inducing. Someone recently asked if the Lived Experience Academy uses a trauma-informed lens. It prompted me to write an article about Trauma-informed Growth. Here's an excerpt, but you can read the whole article at the Academy website. "We embrace a trauma-informed lens but note that there is more to life than recovering health. There is more to our story than attaining the clinical goals that comprise suicide prevention and Trauma-informed Care. Thus, our primary interest is Trauma-informed Growth. When the response to trauma shifts to focusing on what comes after recovery, that enters the domain of Post-Traumatic Growth. When we focus on what comes after recovery related to suicide, we enter the domain of Post-Suicidal Growth." https://livedexp.academy #PTG #posttraumaticgrowth #Postsuicidalgrowth #PSG #trauma #traumainformedcare #PTSD

It is imperative in care and recovery that traumatic events be followed and supported through Post Trauma Growth PTG and moreover Post Suicide Growth PSG. Yes, it is a sacred space of moral injury and soul woundedness that merits professional and peer support. I know the value of PTSD, PTG, and PSG. Every voice of lived experience is invaluable/ priceless. #Suicideprevention #peersupport #livedexperience #PTG #PSG #TramaInformed #TBRI

In this episode, we're joined by Dr Julie Denning, Managing Director and Chartered Health psychologist at Working2Wellbeing and chair of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association. Also joining us is Generali's own early intervention and rehabilitation expert, Kay Needle to discuss the latest thinking in support for employees with long-term conditions. Around 15 million people in England alone have a long-term condition. That's a condition that has to be managed with drugs or treatment such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke or cancer. And the number of people with three or more long-term conditions or multimorbidity, is ever-rising, bringing with it rising demand for prevention and management. Even long COVID, which is not as prevalent as any of these conditions but is arguably receiving most attention in the media, at least, is now verging into this territory and is also contributing to the wider discussion around chronic fatigue. Such conditions are more prevalent than others, but will undoubtedly impact people in most workplaces. So what are the trends? The latest thinking and support and barriers to progress?

Overview Online Trainings are coming up!
These two trainings are coming up - register ASAP if you plan to attend! I'm passionate about teaching clinicians, counselors, and care workers principles of social justice as they pertain to the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders. Even if you work in a field unrelated to eating disorders, they are common enough that you've definitely seen patients impacted by them, whether you recognized it or not. This overview training is designed to help you shift your awareness of eating disorders from the common narratives rooted in systems of oppression in order to provide better care for your patients and clients. Learn more and sign up at https://lnkd.in/gYBuAwWK [ID: Text graphic advertising upcoming training. The background is maroon, with a dark maroon vertical strip taking up the left third of the image. Text reads "Eating Disorders Treatment: Applying a Social Justice Lens for Healing & Liberation, with Marcella Raimondo, PhD, MPH. Friday Jan 26 from 10am to 11am PST, and Monday Jan 29 from 3pm to 4pm PST. Register at https://lnkd.in/g3qhSwza."
