As March Madness nears, I can’t help but to ask…..
Imagine you’re at the Sportsbook ready to make a wager on the big championship game.
One team focuses their entire pre-game effort on interviews and PR. They tout themselves as great basketball players, wear bright, shiny uniforms, and have the best facilities with a huge public platform. But their approach to the game is to wing it, because they don’t actually understand the rules of the game. They have no communication, no practice, no set plays, no true game-plan, no coach, no direction.
The other team doesn’t do any media, their uniforms suck, and their facilities are subpar. They don’t have enough cash or resources to invest in the same facilities but they work, very hard. They practice, communicate, and gameplan as a team. Their fan base is small, yet mighty and dedicated. They have a very high acumen of the game and they know how to play.
So, which team do you bet on to win?
Now translate this as an analogy to recycling. Do we want to look good and get in the news, or do we want to win the championship game and succeed? Or better yet, how about we combine the resources of one with the work ethic and gameplan of the other and create one All-Star unit.
The equation is simple:
Big producer funds, resources, and goals + (good) local recyclers work ethic, understanding, and geography + true State assistance and funding = limited logistics costs, better collection and consolidation, local solutions, better margins, more efficiencies = year over year NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

3moHow do y’all initiate these awesome partnerships? I would love to see our Vision Zero program emulate this in SLC with the Jazz and the new Utah Hockey Club.
