Striking the perfect mix of work & life in an integrated form is the key to unlocking greater career progression while enjoying your key moments. Being selective based on priorities & rationale rather than obstinate with terms yields no prosperity.

Work-life-balance or Work-life-integration? A recent analysis by Glassdoor states that in 2024, the generation born between 1996 and 2010 (GenZ) is anticipated to overtake Baby Boomers in the full-time workforce. This generation has one highly common & vocal requisite in their professional endeavors: work-life balance. From Nyra Leadership Consulting's survey of over 1000 GenZ, we observed that 78% of respondents seek roles that allow them work-life balance flexibility. Why does GenZ seek work-life balance? - Having observed their senior generations glorify work fatigue, they have a deep faith in prioritizing their comfort. - They have been nurtured with the belief that they can achieve everything, and thus aim for the best of both worlds. - Mental health assumes greater significance than anything else & GenZ seeks timely breaks & off-work moments to rejuvenate. My opinion though remains, why should we consider work & life as two separate spheres? A successful work-life-integration leads to prioritization based on needs & allows a peaceful co-existence of work & personal life. In many of my interviews for my book on leadership & happiness, leaders across the globe have expressed their comfort & giving their best at work while also engaging in personal recreational activities. How does one attain work-life integration? - Treat matters based on their urgency, it is okay to take a client call after hours if their requirement is crucial. - Be open & flexible, discuss your needs with your team & align goals to suit everyone's needs. - Build a healthy rapport with your managers or team, which is based on mutual empathy. It is essential to value & respect both aspects of our lives while infusing them together. Finding the balance that motivates GenZ & its managers is certain to yield phenomenal results.
