🍇🏆 Wine Lovers and Industry Insiders - Take note! 🌍🍷 Our latest data visualization takes you on a global tour of wine competitions, revealing where the most prestigious medals are awarded. Information about the awarded wines was taken from more than 250 of the largest Wine Competitions out of at least 600 held in the world every year. Priority was given to international competitions, while the results of national competitions were processed with lower priority. You can find the list of all wine competitions taken into the study here. Wine competitions exhibit considerable variation in the number of samples submitted and medals awarded. Following the guidelines set by the OIV - International Organisation of Vine and Wine, most competitions adhere to the recommendation that only 30% of submitted samples receive medals. Did you know that in the French wine industry, one producer would probably NEVER help pour another French producer's wines? The South African wine industry camaraderie has enabled their industry to grow leaps and bounds. The slew of reports from different publications such as Business Times have highlighted the challenging times F&B face globally. South African wines have defied trends and are powering through these difficult times. Sharing and costing have often been cited as key factors among producers. I was honored to be part of a fireside chat that highlighted the growth in South African wines. As of 2023, approximately 39% of wines are exported, with the UK and Europe traditionally being major markets. However, the industry is witnessing a shift towards Asia, particularly with Japan emerging as a key player. Now is the perfect time to explore these exceptional wines. Not only are they a fraction of the cost of Old World wines, but they also offer comparable or superior quality. Cheers to the evolving landscape of the wine industry! 🍷🌍 #WineIndustry #SouthAfricanWines #GlobalMarketTrends Cape Winemakers Guild Bevan Newton Johnson Savage Wines 67 Pall Mall Singapore

𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐈𝐍 𝐃𝐔̈𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐅 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 In the next few days it's time for ProWein 2024; a 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 for the fair which has been the undisputed leader of international wine fairs for years and which today must redeem itself, given the under-performing 2023 edition. According to many, in fact, 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬 could become the new main international wine fair, thus replacing ProWein in Düsseldorf. The latter would consequently return to being mainly a fair for the 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 and would act as a privileged meeting point for numerous markets in Northern and Eastern Europe. The German fair will be held from 𝟏𝟎 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟐 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 and will once again see 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲 as the protagonist, with over 1,190 registered exhibitors, although down compared to previous editions; followed by France (743) and Germany (708). Australia and New Zealand Unite for UK Wine Trade Tastings in 2025 🍇 📅 In an exciting development for the wine industry, Wine Australia and New Zealand Winegrowers are joining forces to host their annual UK trade tastings in 2025. Scheduled for 30 January in London at Lindley Hall, The Royal Horticultural Halls, and 4 February in Edinburgh at The Balmoral, these events will bring together wineries, importers, trade, and media from across the UK and Europe. 🌍 This collaboration marks a significant milestone, as it’s the first time both national associations have come together for the UK trade tastings. Building on the success of the Australia and New Zealand masterclass in Manchester in June 2024 and tastings in Copenhagen and Stockholm in October 2023, the combined event promises to showcase the unique synergy and complementary qualities of wines from both countries. Mark Stephenson of Grape and Grain lauded the initiative, noting the benefits for trade professionals juggling busy schedules. 🍷 The UK market remains pivotal for both Australian and New Zealand wines. Laura Jewell MW from Wine Australia highlighted the camaraderie and shared attributes between the two countries, from fine wine and great food to stunning scenery and a laid-back attitude. Chris Stroud of New Zealand Winegrowers emphasised the efficiency and expanded portfolio opportunities this joint event offers to buyers, retailers, and sommeliers. Registration for wineries and importers will open soon, with options for full and half tables to feature wines from both nations. #WineTrade #UKTastings #WineAustralia #NewZealandWinegrowers #TradeEvents #WineIndustry #Australia #NewZealand
