Natural disaster chasing- ❌ Houston had a hurricane hit last week and I was pitched to by so many vendors last week. Thankfully we only lost internet, but some of Houston STILL hasn't regained power and a lot of people were displaced from flooding or their homes being damaged. 😅 There are absolutely services that fit these situations, but anything that doesn't provide me value right away during that time is not what I want to hear/talk about. The last thing most people want during an incident, a natural disaster, or even a holiday, is a sales pitch for something they do not need. 😬 This is usually referred to as ambulance chasing in sales. 🚑 You see that there is something going on and you pounce on them to pitch before all of the other vendors. This happens a lot in cybersecurity to companies after a breach or after they are hacked. Having empathy is great to have in these situations, but if you aren't going to come over and clean up the debris, give the person or company some time to get back to normal. 💁♀️ What are your thoughts on this topic? Do not allow yourself to be blinded by a shiny low price sticker. Sometimes its like buying clearance meat at Walmart. Client, "This is by far the highest quote I've received its 25% higher." Me "I know but its the only option I can find for what your doing." Client "Company X and Y both offered me better terms." Me "I know please see the attached highlighted areas" I sent the client the application where he would have to specifically lie to company X and the underwriting rules for Company Y that specifically said his Property was not eligible. Client "Thank you can we go ahead and get this in force." Rather then going through a messy cancellation and having his coverage rewritten right in the peak of wind and hurricane season we were able to secure coverage early that will stay in force.
