𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀
The key to building successful teams isn't bringing together a group of all-stars and asking them to accomplish a goal. Healthy high-performing teams understand that they must invest in building a team environment and practicing behaviors that enable shared success.
A team's ability to ask the right questions about their behaviors and environment gives them a holistic view for ongoing assessment, problem-solving, and defining meaningful action toward solutions.
𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀
1) Clear And Meaningful Goals
Shared meaningful goals are what makes a team a team. Goal clarity includes Purpose, Values, Team, and Individual Goals.
2) Agile Team Priorities
Teams must develop the capacity to continually assess and reset, when necessary, their priorities to meet new challenges and remain on track for success.
3) Role Clarity
Everyone should clearly understand who is responsible for what and how people must work together to accomplish shared goals.
4) Effective And Efficient Processes
Setting clear and effective processes for decision-making, conflict management, problem-solving, communication procedures, resource allocations, etc., supports the achievement of the team's goals by defining the critical interactions needed for team effectiveness.
5) Adequate Resources
Adequate support from management and the larger organization is necessary for them to succeed in achieving their goals.
𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀
1) Team Members Are Credible
Team members must demonstrate the necessary expertise, experience, knowledge, and abilities to successfully get the job done.
2) Team Members Are Accountable
Team members are reliable and do what they say they will do. They consistently deliver on their commitments.
3) Psychological Safety
Team members trust each other to experiment without judgment, voice opinions without being shamed, and fail without being labeled a failure.
4) Demonstrate A “We” Perspective
Team members believe peers understand and have their best interests at heart. They do not feel peers are trying to leverage situations for selfish gain.
5) Live The Values
Shared values increase motivation by creating a workplace culture built on principles that employees believe in, which helps them find more fulfillment in their work and relationships.
