We are throwing it back on #throwbackthursday to just a few weeks ago when the ribbon was cut on Connecticut's first net-zero energy Executive Branch building - the DEEP Western District Headquarters in Watertown. So much consideration was put into making this building as environmentally friendly as possible, including the use of Pozzotive in the concrete mixture. Pozzotive is a ground glass pozzolan made from recycled post-consumer glass in Beacon Falls, CT, by Urban Mining Industries - Pozzotive®. It is a safer, sustainable, and higher-performing material that dramatically reduces embodied CO2 emissions in concrete. O&G was proud to supply the concrete used in the project! #concrete #sustainableconcrete #buildwithstrength #sustainableconstruction #netzero #netzeroconstruction

🏗 🎉 Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz joined DEEP Commissioner Katie Scharf Dykes and Connecticut Department of Administrative Services Commissioner Michelle Gilman to inaugurate Connecticut's first net-zero energy Executive Branch building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Yesterday in Watertown. ⚡The new headquarters uses no fossil fuels to operate and features advanced sustainability technologies including geothermal heating, rooftop solar panels, and smart building controls, aiming for LEED Platinum Status. 📉This consolidation of DEEP operations significantly enhances efficiency and sustainability, reducing energy use by 40% and water consumption by 50% compared to standard buildings. ⭐The facility symbolizes the administration's dedication to a sustainable future and is one of many ongoing efforts to prioritize energy efficiency and sustainable practices. 📄 For more on this remarkable project, follow the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and check out the press release: https://lnkd.in/ezSwF9nD
