📉Challenges in UK Renewable Energy Planning A significant number of UK Renewable Energy projects are struggling to gain planning approval with no region having no more than a 20% success rate. Key reasons include stringent regulations, lengthy approval processes, ‘zombie projects’ backing up the queue and local opposition. This bottleneck hampers the country’s transition to greener energy sources despite strong public support for renewables and the urgent need to meet climate targets. Streamlining the planning process is essential to unlock the full potential of the renewable energy sector in the UK. https://lnkd.in/ddqcsyf2 #Renewableenergy #renewables #planning #ukenergy #climateaction

Enabling Great British Energy ~ A zero-carbon grid requires specific technologies to ensure reliability ~ As part of Labour’s plan to boost the UK’s renewable energy production, ‘Great British Energy’ will see the production of a greater number of floating offshore wind farms and tidal power projects. However, for these technologies to be a success, it’s essential to have the right enabling mechanisms in place. #GreatBritishEnergy #EnergyInnovation #UKRenewables #CleanEnergyUK #SustainableBritain Cressall Resistors Ltd https://lnkd.in/e8Rabpdp

👉 Renewable Energy News in Ireland There is no denying that the Renewable Energy sector is growing rapidly. Some countries have had some great success, while others are struggling to keep up with high demands. According to IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol: “Renewables were already expanding quickly, but the global energy crisis has kicked them into an extraordinary new phase of even faster growth as countries seek to capitalise on their energy security benefits. The world is set to add as much renewable power in the next 5 years as it did in the previous 20 years". What's happening in the Renewable sector in Ireland? 👇 (Latest update)

MARKET UPDATE: The majority of UK Renewable Projects fail to reach beyond their planning stage. A significant portion of the UK's onshore renewable energy projects are stalled at the planning stage, hindering the country's clean energy goals. Analysis by Cornwall Insight reveals that 63% of about 4,000 wind, solar, and battery projects submitted between 2018 and 2023 have been refused, abandoned, or withdrawn. Only 20% are either awaiting a decision or ready for construction. This slow progress, driven by an overwhelmed planning system and grid connection delays, jeopardizes the UK's net zero emissions target by 2050. Political parties propose reforms to expedite planning processes, but current inefficiencies continue to challenge renewable project development, impacting the overall energy market and delaying the transition to sustainable energy sources.
