Meet Karina Oliani Karina Oliani - Mountaineer ⛰️ and Expedition Doctor. Karina came onboard the Abel Tasman during our journey up the west Greenland coast, along with her partner and 2-year old daughter Kora. Being able to share this adventure with Kora was extremely special. And Kora, who has already visited more than 25 countries, fully embraced her first sailing adventure and felt right at home. Karina has several passions - from environmental activism to professional sport and humanitarianism. This expedition was a unique opportunty to be involved in both exploration and marine conservation efforts. She contributed to the eDNA and microplastic sampling onboard, and always chasing a thrill, Karina took Arctic exploration to a new level - scaling icebergs and wakeboarding in the icey waters of Disko Bay. We were thrilled to have Karina's expertise and adventurous spirit onboard! ➡️ Follow Ocean Science Expedition for more! 📸 Karina Oliani #OceanScienceExpedition #AbelTasmanYacht #NorthwestPassage #TippingPoints #PlanetaryTippingPoints #PlanetaryBoundaries #ExpeditionDoctor #WomenInAdventure #MarineConservation #Expedition #Arctic #Wakeboarding #PaddleBoarding #Mountaineering #Icebergs #MarineConservation

🌊 Celebrating the fearless spirit of seafarers and explorers alike, making journeys unimaginable to Man! On 25 June, we celebrate Day of the Seafarer and every day, we honor those who navigate the world's oceans and conquer its most challenging frontiers. Seafarers brave the unpredictable seas with skill and courage, much like explorers who conquer the world's highest peaks or traverse uncharted territories. Lonnie Dupre, renowned for his Arctic expeditions and his pioneering achievements in extreme mountaineering, mirrors these qualities in his determination to explore and understand Earth's most remote and hostile environments. Lonnie Dupre is celebrated for being the first person to solo climb Denali in January, braving temperatures that plummeted to minus 75 degrees Fahrenheit (-59°C). His Arctic expeditions include solo summits of Mount McKinley (Denali) and expeditions to both the North and South Poles. His accomplishments not only demonstrate extraordinary physical and mental endurance but also highlight his deep commitment to environmental stewardship and raising awareness about climate change's impact on our planet's most fragile ecosystems. At GUILD, these parallels inspire our commitment to promoting innovation, exploration, and sustainability. We foster projects that advance technology, enhance environmental stewardship, and support the adventurous spirit that defines both groups. For more details, visit Lonnie Dupre's inspiring journey at https://lnkd.in/gCmnBQHq Stay tuned every Monday to meet more amazing creators! Let’s celebrate these Groundbreakers together! Dear LinkedIn friends, There are a few spots left for Polar Bear Fly - In Safaris, with Arctic Kingdom this fall. Canada accounts for 60% of Polar Bears population in the world. Nowadays, with the climate change, we see fewer and fewer bears and wildlife. To see Polar Bears in their natural habitat, far from the crowds, is a privilege and one of the most experiential trips that one can have. A land expedition type of trip is a very different experience than a cruise expedition, since it involves other aspects that may pleasantly surprise you. If you have a dream to see Polar Bears, this fall may be your chance. Polar Bear Migration Fly - In Safaris is one of the best trips Arctic Kingdom runs. We love travel agents, tour operators, and we love to make dreams come true. If you are interested in what a few can experience in the world, contact your agent or Arctic Kingdom at adventures@arctickingdom.com to discuss further. Here is a glimpse of what to expect: https://lnkd.in/gfXcM9aB #makeithappen #arctickingdom #onceinalifetimeexperience

Every time we get back from the Arctic Expedition we say that it was one of our best yet, but this really was; these students really pushed themselves this season in the -27 degrees nights out in the snow. One of our prize winners stayed out for 5 nights in total and nearly every single student stayed out for 3-4. They really made the most out of their experience. A number of things made this trip different. A new questionnaire for the students to answer before they go to help create their personal tasks. A more detailed and illustrated quinsy build lesson plan was created that made it easier to follow and adhere to the safety instructions. I think with the extra clarity for all, the objective was very clear and the construction results were better. One of the biggest changes for me was the new Young Leaders Program that we have developed and executed for the first time. It was a resounding success from both the Polaris and the student point of view. The young leaders learned how to communicate as a teacher, how to manage people with respect and how to develop listening skills and implement learning strategies amongst their peers. One of the more special moments was a night hike out to a wilderness shelter where the students built a fire; we all had hot chocolate and snacks and shared stories of our adventures around the globe before we settled down for the night in the wilderness. Its great to see the students inner strength and confidence soar as they get good at difficult things. It really sets them apart from “the average”. It’s a great feeling sending them home knowing that they are better, stronger and a little more able to face life’s challenges. We've just posted the Young Leader's write ups so you can hear from them first-hand on how they felt it went and what they developed in personally... https://lnkd.in/ej9gjRdG #arctic #adventure #youngleader #personaldevelopment #growth #expedition

The Weddell Sea is an extraordinary and remote expanse of the Southern Ocean, standing as one of the most pristine and untouched environments on Earth. Located off the eastern coast of Antarctica, this vast sea is a marvel of nature, characterised by its crystal-clear waters and colossal, otherworldly icebergs that drift silently across the horizon. The sheer isolation of the Weddell Sea has allowed it to remain one of the least disturbed ecosystems, making it a haven for an incredible array of wildlife. Here, you'll find Weddell seals basking on the ice, colonies of Adelie and emperor penguins braving the frigid conditions, and various whale species, including orcas and humpbacks, navigating its icy waters. The Weddell Sea is also steeped in the dramatic history of polar exploration. It played a pivotal role in the legendary and harrowing expedition of Sir Ernest Shackleton, whose ship, the Endurance, was famously trapped and crushed by the sea ice in 1915. The story of Shackleton's leadership and the survival of his crew remains one of the most inspiring tales of human endurance and resilience. Beyond its historical significance, the Weddell Sea offers a glimpse into the raw, untamed beauty of our planet. The vast, icy landscapes create a surreal and almost otherworldly atmosphere, where the silence is broken only by the sound of cracking ice and the distant calls of seabirds. For scientists and adventurers alike, the Weddell Sea is a place of wonder and discovery, representing one of the last frontiers of truly wild and uncharted territory on Earth. Whether viewed from the deck of a ship or from above in a helicopter, the Weddell Sea leaves an indelible impression, reminding us of the planet's awe-inspiring power and the delicate balance of its ecosystems.
