Although many chronic diseases can be cured, the conventional healthcare model is focused primarily on managing symptoms instead of diagnosing and treating underlying causes. And since doctors are reimbursed based on how many patients they see in a day and not how many they cure, there’s little incentive to change. Patients should understand that healthcare is a service, and if they’re not getting the service they want, then perhaps it’s time to seek out another provider and another way of handling their healthcare needs. #nbihealth #drjohnneustadt #smallbusiness #onlineshopping #dietarysupplements

Medical gaslighting is a term used to describe situations where healthcare providers dismiss or downplay a patient’s symptoms, leading the patient to question their own experiences and feelings. Discussing medical gaslighting is crucial within the rare disease community because it can lead to delays in diagnosis, inadequate treatment, and a profound sense of mistrust in the healthcare system. People living with rare diseases frequently endure long journeys in search of answers, and when their experiences are invalidated, it can compound the challenges they already face. By understanding the signs of gaslighting and learning effective strategies for navigating the healthcare system, individuals can better advocate for themselves and ensure they receive the proper care that they deserve. March is Kidney Health Month, so let’s talk about it: according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 37 million American adults have CKD, and many are not aware of their condition. “Chronic kidney disease is an underappreciated condition, often because patients don’t notice any major symptoms or health issues until it’s advanced. And for patients who don’t see physicians regularly, there’s a risk of them missing easy screening opportunities. SHK is actively working to help combat such a predicament and proactively keep patients healthy” – Saquib Rahim, MD, MBA, Director of Healthcare Innovation at Simple HealthKit. Understand your kidney health and get connected to resources for follow-up care. DM us to learn more about the importance of kidney health. #KidneyHealth #ChronicKidneyDisease #KidneyAwareness
