With the growing interest and uptake of #methanol as a marine fuel and #bunkering already occurring, SGMF has established workgroup 22 for safety and operational guidelines for Methanol Bunkering. Kindly hosted by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) in their #London office, the workgroup held its first F2F meeting today. The aim for this workgroup is to provide guidance and/or recommendations to support the safe adoption of methanol as a marine fuel.    SGMF is a non-governmental organisation (#NGO), consisting of over 140 members, representing the complete marine #fuel #supplychain. The society is established to promote #safety and industry best practice in the use of gaseous marine fuels. Governed by a representative Board and driven by two principal Committees, SGMF has several working groups at any one-time solving issues and producing outputs such as guidelines and checklists for the benefit of the whole industry. The AFSS is suitable for both newbuilds and as a retrofit for existing vessels. It can be installed as an integrated cargo handling and fuel supply system on ships carrying liquified gas especially those able to trade ammonia as cargo, such as VLGC’s and MGC’s.
