The re-routing of vessels around Africa instead of crossing the Suez Canal is now "business as usual". If the vessel operators want to maintain the payload, they will need to figure out how to re-fuel the vessels for that longer journey. Port Elizabeth (Algoa Bay) in South Africa is the well establised bunkering port in this part of the world and the most opptimal refuelling point for the Asia-Europe/North America routed vessels. Mauritus and Walvis Bay are not as efficient and congesting them with 150 or so vessels a month (typical volume served by Port Elizabeth) could cause significant delays for the vessel operators. So, let's not worry about carbon emissions resulting from longer sailing distance. Without sustainable refuelling option for the vessels, we may be in for a much larger problem ahead for as long as the attacks on the commercial vessels crossing Suez Canal continue. #shipping #maritime #logistics #strategy #bunkering https://lnkd.in/ddrftBRK

In a continuously evolving market, it is fundamental to have and transfer data and information in real time: our information network and developed know-how allow us to be by the client’s side and meet the needs of buyers and sellers of every kind of vessel, thus establishing a relationship of great trust. For more than 30 years, in addition to the second-hand market, we have strengthened contacts with the most important shipyards in the world in order to offer appropriate solutions to every specific request. We have relationships with shipyards in Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam, The Netherlands, Romania, Italy and Turkey and Spain. In addition to traditional types of ships (tankers, bulk carriers, container ships), we also assist our clients in niche projects such as transhipment, offshore and vessels for transporting animals. Craig, how can you proclaim that Red Sea events will have zero supply chain impact? We are talking about vessels not planes. How do you transit the Suez Canal without transiting the Red Sea? 70% of east coast cargo from Asia transits Suez -- maybe more now that Panama has draft issues. This will also impact costs as insurance premiums will be up -- and likely passed on to shippers. So what in the world are you talking about? Your "expertise" 🤣 in liner shipping never ceases to amaze. #freightwaves #oceanfreight #suezcanal #redsea

An Important Update About Redsea And Shipping Routes & Delays!!
CEO and Founder at Artifea, with 4 years of experience in Amazon Product sourcing, Product Design, and Development, driven by the belief to make sourcing simple, accessible, and efficient.
Amid the recent assaults in the #RedSea, the region is actively reassessing its transit strategies. Over a hundred vessels have been rerouted via the Cape of Good Hope to steer clear of the Red Sea, resulting in an additional 6,000 miles added to the Asia-to-Europe routes. This detour is causing a delay of roughly four weeks for these vessels and triggering a surge in oil prices. The usual voyage through the Red Sea and Suez Canal faces significant temporary disruptions, prompting the redirection of all vessels. The shipping industry is now pressed to identify alternative routes that prioritize safety and minimal delays outside the Red Sea's confines 🌊. #redsea #shippingsolutions #supplychainmanagement #logistics #vessel #suezcanal

Maersk expects operational challenges to linger following Red Sea return. European ports could be overwhelmed with services arriving from both via the Suez and around the Cape of Good Hope. Shippers can expect at least three months of delays and disruption after carriers are finally given the green light for a Red Sea return, according to the world’s second-largest liner operator A.P. Moller - Maersk. Speaking exclusively to Lloyd's List Intelligence deputy editor Linton Nightingale, Johan Sigsgaard, chief product officer of the Danish carrier’s ocean business, said while it is not clear what a Red Sea reopening would look like at this stage, it was clear that the process would not be as simple as flicking a switch and everything returning as it once was. “It’s going to be at least three months of settling into the new network, potentially longer, depending on exactly how this this happens,” he said. The issue confronting Maersk and its fellow carriers will be that the first vessels heading back through the Suez will quickly overtake those still taking the longer route around Africa. The result will effectively see double the amount of vessels arriving in Europe simultaneously, with the potential to overwhelm ports and landside infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/e3bRnUPK

Is disruption now the new normal? I’ve been leading the ports and terminals research since January 2020 and the sector has faced an increased number of challenges
The re-routing of mainline vessels via the Cape of Good Hope has resulted in a steep downturn in vessel call capacity across East and Central Mediterranean hub ports, but West Mediterranean ports have shown more resilience. With no resolution to the security situation in the Red Sea, carriers continue to divert mainline vessels trading between Asia and Europe via the Cape of Good Hope. International Trade and the vital role of Ports International trade is crucial on global economy, with the balance between dependency and diversification being key to achieving long-term economic stability and resilience. In the dynamic landscape of global trade, port infrastructure stands out as a crucial component. These frontline ports anchor the maritime industry, providing the essential infrastructure needed to handle the increasing volume and complexity of global trade. As global trade continues to expand, the role of ports becomes even more significant. They not only support economic growth but also help in mitigating the risks associated with trade disruptions. Modern port infrastructure must adapt to these changes by incorporating advanced technologies and sustainable practices. This includes the integration of digital solutions for better management and operational efficiency, as well as investments in green technologies to reduce the environmental impact of port activities. By doing so, ports can enhance their capacity to support international trade while contributing to broader environmental goals. The importance of international trade to the global economy cannot be overstated, and frontline ports play an indispensable role in this ecosystem. #ports #internationaltrade #shipping #economy #trading #sustainability #development #innovation
Key transhipment ports, such as Singapore, have witnessed a sharp rise in congestion due to the impact of Red Sea carrier service diversions, which have led to fewer vessel calls but larger average exchanges. This has added to yard congestion... Read more at: https://lnkd.in/eQg-N2QR #ports #containers

Southeaster Maritime Ltd v. Trafigura Maritime Logistics Pte Ltd (The Aquafreedom) [2024] EWHC 255 (Comm) TIME CHARTER: WHETHER TIME CHARTER CONCLUDED: IMPACT OF A “SUBJECT” OF “CHARTERERS’ MANAGEMENT APPROVAL” WHERE “ALL TERMS” NOT AGREED BY THE PARTIES BEFOREHAND: APPLICATION FOR DECLARATION THAT NO LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT CONCLUDED This case reinforces the approach to charter party “subjects” taken in the “Leonidas” and the “Newcastle Express”, which equates their legal effect to that of the phrase “subject to contract”, and in its analysis of what amounts to a counter-offer (and thus something which prevents subsequent acceptance of an earlier offer) in the context of charter party negotiations.
