This week on Bunkerspot, we caught up with IBIA’s Executive Director and its Representative to the International Maritime Organization, Alexander Prokopakis and Edmund Hughes PhD to discuss the major issues facing the industry and what the Association intends to do about them. Alternative fuels are very much on the agenda at IBIA, and this week a new study carried out by a Lloyd's Register, Knutsen Group, HDKSOE and HHI Joint Development Project highlighted how they, along with green steel and #renewableenergy are ‘fundamental’ to #greenhousegasemissions reduction during the life cycle of a #vessel. There were some notable #lngbunkering infrastructure developments this week. #Galveston LNG Bunker Port, a joint venture between Seapath and Pilot LNG LLC, announced that its proposed site for the #US Gulf Coast’s first dedicated LNG bunkering facility will be at Shoal Point in Galveston County. This week also saw the delivery of the 12,000 cbm-capacity LNG bunker vessel Brassavola, which will be chartered by Pavilion Energy to supply LNG bunkers in the Port of #Singapore, and the christening of the MT Diligence, the first LNG dual fuel bunker tanker to join TFG Marine’s fleet which will also operate in the global bunker hub. FPSO 'Johan Castberg' which will tap #Norway’s newest oil field is now undergoing final checks before setting sail for the Barents Sea, the latest stage of the country’s push to extract more #resources from the #Arctic. At 313 meters (1,027 feet) long, the Johan Castberg production vessel is about the same length as the world’s biggest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford. Its tanks have the capacity to hold as much as 1.1 million barrels of #oil, drawn from 30 wells. The ship will spend much of the summer at the dock and anchored in the fjord near the Stord shipyard undergoing final checks, before heading north to start production in the fourth quarter, eventually ramping up to about 220,000 barrels a day. Located above the Arctic circle and about 240 kilometers (150 miles) northwest of Europe’s biggest #LNG production facility at Hammerfest, the Johan Castberg field is estimated to hold between 450 million and 650 million barrels of #crudeoil. License holders are Equinor with 50%, 30% held by Energi ASA and Petoro ASA with the remaining 20%. #maritime #exploration #industry

Petrobras: I'm particularly sensible by this #EPRD #Congro submerged buoy #decommissioning tender results. Witnessing the first four contenders presenting bids within certain range is not common and speaks volumes about the realistic pricing strategy of this project, in my opinion. Kudos to #Oceanpact for leading with a highly competitive bid. Leveraging their own fleet and in-house expertise, they are well positioned to execute this complex scope of work.
