The Bluefield Solar Income Fund (BSIF) (LSE:BSIF), advised by Bluefield Partners LLP, recently announced a significant strategic partnership with GLIL Infrastructure, involving the acquisition of a 247-megawatt UK #solar portfolio from Lightsource bp. #BluefieldPartners Managing Partner James Armstrong visits the Proactive London studio to speak with Thomas Warner to talk about how the agreements fits into the fund's long-term strategy of delivering attractive, inflation-linked dividends to its shareholders. Armstrong highlights the three key components of this partnership. Firstly, the acquisition of the #Lightsourcebp portfolio, which he praises for its diversity, proven management, and high levels of regulated revenues, aligning closely with the fund's objective of providing long-term, inflation-linked returns. About 80% of the revenues from this acquisition are linked to inflation, making it a potentially more attractive proposition for the fund's shareholders. The second phase of the partnership involves selling a 50% stake to #GLILInfrastructure. This move is aimed at reducing the fund's short-term debt burden, which has been a challenge due to the broader market's recent struggles with higher inflation and interest rates, leading to lower public market valuations of infrastructure and renewable energy assets. The third phase focuses on joint development of a pipeline of new assets over the next 2-5 years, leveraging the fund's strong market position and decade-long track record of high performance. In response to potential shareholder reactions, Armstrong anticipates positive support, citing ongoing discussions with them. African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) has reached a final close of its fourth pan-African infrastructure fund, African Infrastructure Investment Fund 4 (AIIF4). The fund reached its hard cap with $748 million and exceeded its initial target by 50%. In addition to the hard cap, AIIM has an additional $206 million approved for co-investments alongside the fund. “Given the challenging global fundraising environment, we are delighted to have outperformed the targeted fund size,” said Paul Frankish, AIIM’s Head of Strategic Initiatives. “We received strong support from our existing investor base and many new investors looking to diversify their portfolios into high-growth, high-impact markets like Africa." The fund attracted commitments from 29 investors, with approximately 25% of funds from institutional investors in Africa, 42% from the EU and UK, 14% from Canada and the USA, and 17% from the Middle East and Asia. The investor base includes pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, asset managers, family offices, and 50% from development finance institution (DFI) investors. AIIF4 aims to focus on companies with private sector counterparties within three area: digital infrastructure, energy transition, and transport, ports, and logistics. AIIM’s strategy targets markets such as South Africa, Morocco, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and Egypt. “In developing our strategy, we focused on themes providing long-term growth driven by structural needs and secular trends,” noted Olusola Lawson, AIIM’s Managing Director and Co-CEO. AIIF4 achieved its first close in June 2022 and has since made commitments to seven platforms, representing over 60% of the fund’s capital. #cleanenergy
