So many people want to wait as long as they can to own LTC insurance, but they don't understand that health is what buys this stuff. Buy when you first decide to do it. You are currently the youngest and likely the healthiest you'll ever be. Use your health and youth to your advantage to obtain the most leverage for the dollars paid into a plan. #longtermcare#assetprotection#alzheimers
As a proud member of the “Passenger Princesses Association,” I’ve spent plenty of time observing the streets—parking mishaps, lane changes without signals, crossing solid lines, and running red lights. On my street, violations are so common that we’ve turned it into a game, spotting cars parked near stop signs or fire hydrants.
Yesterday, just before a late-night drive, we spotted yet another car parked in front of a hydrant. Amused, I thought, "Why not record each violation I see and compile them later?" What a timing! Before crossing the road, I even recorded the black car parked wrongly, feeling proud of my idea. But, to my utter surprise and shock, when I crossed the street expecting a ticket on the black car, I found one on my own—the red car parked right in front of the black one!
My first thought? "This has to be a mistake. We’ve never gotten a ticket before." But after walking around, I realized we had blocked the crosswalk. Oops. The rest of the night involved consoling my husband, who couldn’t believe he made such a “rookie mistake.” He’s an experienced, responsible driver, after all.
As the problem-solver I am, I did a quick root cause analysis (RCA): he’d been pulling 16-hour shifts, his mind was occupied with work, and the crosswalk markings were faded. I even looked up stats to comfort him—one ticket in 3 years of driving in the US is below average! To feel better, he texted friends, and one had racked up $800 in fines over three years, while another got a $150 ticket just last week. All experienced drivers. All professionals who made simple mistakes.
We didn’t end up going out, but this experience taught me a few valuable lessons:
1️⃣ I can find a million reasons to justify someone I care about, but I’m quicker to judge strangers. Before this, I thought I was genuinely empathetic, but there’s always room to be kinder and slower to judge.
2️⃣ Smart people make mistakes. Dwelling on them too long just stops you from enjoying the moment. We shouldn’t have let this spoil a beautiful night out.
3️⃣ Always give people a second chance, and then a third . Their potential is far greater than a single mistake made under invisible pressures.
4️⃣ These little slip-ups remind us of our shared humanity. However, Karma is real and pretty instant 😛

Good morning LinkedIn,
To all my #HomeDelivery and #FinalMile folks out there, whether you are licensed as a #Broker or a #Carrier or hold yourself out to the world as a #TransportationNetworkCompany (TNC), it is extremely important that you truly understand:
(i) what each means legally (See generally: 49 U.S.C. § 13102(2), 49 C.F.R. § 371.2(a), 49 U.S.C. § 13102(2), and Fla. Stat. § 627.748(e) as well as other state definitions) and colloquially;
(ii) whether licensing is required for the type of work you do (i.e. considering factors such as intrastate v. interstate commerce and GVW);
(iii) the types of insurance policies you need (you may want to talk to a professional like Ryan Harvey who specializes in HD/FM insurance); and
(iv) what rights and responsibilities flow from each classification…so that you can ensure your Customer Contracts align with how you view organization.
All of the above are important because, courts pay attention to how you hold yourself out to the public (both generally and on the specific shipment) in determining liability for various causes of action brought by drivers (misclassification anyone?), parties injured in motor vehicle accidents (vicarious liability and negligent hiring, entrustment, and selection claims), cargo and property damage claimants, and those injured as a result of abuse, harassment, or molestation by a driver or helper while in the customer’s home.
Essentially, if you tell everyone you’re a TNC, but then sign a contract agreeing to physically transport the freight because Walmart said this is what needs to be signed or you’re a Broker who contractually agrees to control the actions of the drivers and their helpers, you may find yourself subject laws you had no intention of complying or ability to comply with. As I often state, these small inconsistencies can have a big impact on not only your liability (think misclassification of ALL the drivers in your network), but also on your valuation under a proposed Merger and Acquisition transaction.
While on this topic, and in the spirit of the National Home Delivery Association's Leadership Retreat this weekend in Key West, FL, I am reminded of the Trop Rock song by Eric Stone, where he sings, “If you ain’t been aground, then you ain’t been around.” Well, I am here to tell you that running aground in the HD/FM industry and facing claims or defending against litigation for any of the above isn’t fun or cheap, and if you can avoid it from the onset by aligning your business with the right corporate structure, insurance, and contractual language, you can enjoy smoother sailing and avoid being at the mercy of the tides!

⚾️[Sports Biz News]🇺🇸 Connecting Community Love and Brand Power: Philadelphia Phillies and IBX's New Challenge 👏
The Philadelphia Phillies have announced that Independence Blue Cross (IBX), Philadelphia’s hometown health insurer for more than 85 years, has been named the team’s Official Jersey Patch Partner. The news was revealed during a press event at Citizens Bank Park, with Phillies and IBX leaders unveiling the inaugural jersey patch before its on-field debut at that day’s Phillies-Yankees game.
This long-term agreement builds upon the decades-long partnership between both organizations, with IBX expanding upon its role as the Official Health Insurance Partner of the Phillies to become the team’s first Official Jersey Patch sponsor. The iconic IBX blue logo will adorn the sleeve of each of the Phillies’ team jerseys (home, away, and City Connect). Additionally, the patch will be on the team’s Spring Training and postseason jerseys.
The partnership will also expand beyond the game, as together, IBX and the Phillies utilize their platforms for future initiatives that will benefit fans, IBX members, associates, and the community at large. In this way, the two organizations will build on a longstanding partnership of support for nonprofits focused on important health issues that includes Project HOME, the American Cancer Society, ALS United Mid-Atlantic, and the Mike Schmidt Stop Skin Cancer Initiative.
This collaboration sets a new standard in sports marketing and community engagement. By featuring the IBX logo on the Phillies' jerseys, the partnership aims to enhance brand recognition among fans and the community while symbolizing the pride and unity of the Philadelphia region. Both organizations will collectively strive to improve the lives of those in the Philadelphia region through safe, fun, and family-friendly events that encourage healthy habits and foster connections.
IBX members and associates will have access to exclusive discounts on select Phillies tickets and merchandise. The suite level at Citizens Bank Park will be renamed the “Independence Blue Cross Suite Level,” and IBX will also have sponsorship exclusivity within the health insurance category for the Phillies.
