Talking about making impact on people’s live this man is doing that with one thing we all love:
Chocolate.
Jack Steijn revolutionised the Cocoa Market.
He is at the forefront of changing how we think about and consume chocolate.
As the co-founder of Chocoa, he has dedicated his career to transform the cocoa supply chain into a sustainable and profitable model.
Their goal isn't just about selling cocoa: it's about creating a sustainable future for this industry.
Yes giving changes and excess to tools and money to the hard working cocoa farmers around the world.
In 2012, when the market for sustainable cocoa was stagnant, he saw a gap between consumer understanding and quality cocoa.
To bridge this gap he launched Chocoa.
Providing a platform for cocoa producers to showcase and sell their high-quality products directly to eager stakeholders.
Their impact is the most shocking.
At their first event, a Costa Rican producer sold 5 containers of cocoa, which are about 100 to 120 tons, at $4,000 per ton.
This not just a transaction.
The producers’ business changed overnight.
What drives him is not just the business of chocolate, but the stories of transformation and success that come from their work.
In the end of the day they create market access and real, tangible impacts on the lives and livelihoods of cocoa producers all around the world.
That’s impact we want to see, because at the end of the day 40-50 million people depend upon cocoa for their livelihood.
Food must not be a problem but a solution.
Have an impactful week,
Sjacco.
