It’s Staff Appreciation Week at City Rescue Mission! This week, we are making sure our incredible staff knows just how much we appreciate them. We kicked off the week with Celebration Day—highlighting July and August birthdays and work anniversaries with cupcakes!
Hi everyone! Mark Maxfield here, CEO of The Cottages Assisted Living & Memory Care. Those who work for me know that culture is one of the most important things to me for my company. I hired a company President a little over a year ago, which has allowed me to work on the growth and culture of my company. Culture is often what you see, hear, and feel when you walk into your place of business. For me it would be one of our assisted living communities. Recently we had all of our community summer BBQs. I was able to go to ten of them and they were fantastic. I’ve been very impressed with how many people from our other communities showed up to help their sister communities. They assisted with preparing the meals, setting up decorations, and cleaning up. It involved a lot of work.
So, my message for you leaders this month is, are you fostering an environment in your culture where people feel comfortable helping other people do their jobs? That means you have to be ok with cross training and cross supporting, so that people don’t feel siloed and like it’s a competition. It shouldn’t feel like a competition. Instead, it should feel like, this is our team. This is our company. How can we help each other to be successful?
That’s one thing that I’ve noticed that is really improving in our company. I’m so proud of that and great job everyone! As a leader that is something you can look forward to as well. Making sure that everyone feels safe so that they feel like they can help everyone. In so doing, your entire company will be successful. See you next time. #cottagespride#assistedliving#longtermcare#seniorliving#seniorcare#seniors#healthcare#improvelives#deliverqualitycare#caregiveroftheyear

Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to show your employees some love! Here are 3 things you can do today to let your team know you value them:
♥️ Send each member of your team a personalized thank you note, highlighting your appreciation for their hard work and contributions
♥️ Team Recognition in a meeting: Take a few moments to publicly acknowledge and recognize the efforts of each team member during a team meeting. Share specific examples of their accomplishments and why they are special to your team
♥️ Recognize your team members publicly on professional platforms like LinkedIn. Create personalized shoutouts highlighting their achievements and contributions to the team. This will not only help boost their professional profiles but also show their value as part of the team.
Coach Caribbean wishes you a wonderful #ValentinesDay!

Good morning LinkedIn,
Sharing a personal anecdote today that made me reflect on workplace appreciation.
Last night, celebrating my dad's 25th work anniversary, I questioned him as per what his employer did to Thank him for his 25 years of hard work and dedication.
All he received was a mass email from HR and a link to choose a generic gift (Vegan leather purse, Kitchenaid Mixer...that sort of gift)
Needless to say, he was quite disappointed. I can't even count how many family trips and events he missed for work, how many sleepless nights he's had having to solve emergencies at the plant. 25 years of dedication and often placing work before his own needs and family for a kitchen aid mixer...
Companies, let's work on truly recognizing and celebrating our employees' milestones.
Personalized recognition goes a long way in making employees feel valued.

Happy #MayDay! Today is the day that the United States celebrates the #Spring season, as it falls between the March equinox and the June solstice. Around the world, it's also recognized as a day of unity and rebirth, and is often celebrated with dancing, singing, traditional May flowers and ribbons, and maypoles. This became central to a Middle Age tradition in many English villages, with many villagers competing to see whose maypole was the tallest, and incorporating them into dances and decorations. Traditionally, these would also include basket weaving, flower crowns, and homemade sweets that were gifted amongst the community.
However, May Day also became observed for an entirely different reason. It also represents #InternationalWorkersDay, where the International Labor Movement celebrates the working class in response to the May 1, 1886 strike demanding for an 8-hour work day.
Regardless of how you choose to recognize today, there is one thing that we can all agree on: it's almost Spring!

This Monday, 4th March 2024, we woke up to more injuries, deaths, and loved ones holding onto the lifeless bodies of their children, feeling the agonizing helplessness. Three months into 2024, there seems to be nothing worthwhile celebrating. As we approach Ramadan, when our brothers and sisters are being killed by bombs and starvation, it's crucial to reflect on what is truly worth celebrating.
In the context of workplace recognitions, celebrations, and awards, it's essential to consider how these events align with our values and humanity. Winning a trophy while choosing not to speak up for those who are suffering raises questions about the true meaning of success. How can we celebrate when we fail at the most basic aspect of being human—compassion and empathy for others?
Don't expect gratitude from your employees; offer them a place they're grateful to work. It's about reframing the perspective and recognizing that they're essentially volunteers. Let's create better conditions for them. #EmployeeEngagement#TeamCommitment#WorkplaceTransformation
