Are you an internationally Educated Nurse or aspiring to be? Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) are #nurses who are practicing nursing in a country other than where they obtained their basic nursing education. Do you know that one in every eight nurses practiced in a country other than the one where they were born or trained (ICN 2020) What would you rather desire as a nurse who is working in another country other than where you were trained ? Comment here. I have something for you! Follow Olayinka Aremu (NurseCoach Ola) #migrantnurses #overseasnurses #workingabroad #internationalnurses

I desire to see a World where Migrant Nurses are supported to maximise their potential in a fair and respectful manner irrespective of their geographic origin. A working environment that is not fested by rhetorical commentary, racial segregation and discrimination. A world where people will recognise the challenges of migrating away from your families to a foreign land choosing to love and care for total strangers because that’s is our calling as Nurses. A world where legislations, score points and policies about language exams will no longer hinder the much needed experienced Healthcare workers from joining the workforce, and look at other ways to ensure patients safety. A world where nurses pay will be unified worldwide to match the tenacity of the work we do. A world where Nurses are given a chance to a good work-life balance that we all so desired and to which nurses are quitting their profession in search of.

An environment where migrant nurses are not judged by their color and race.   An environment where migrant nurses are given fair judgment and allow to practice their profession.   An environment where migrant nurses come to work with peace of mind and they get all the support they need to strive like every one else.

As a UK trained nurse, I see the challenges and opportunities that come with being an Internationally Educated Nurse. The diversity of nursing backgrounds enriches healthcare systems globally, bringing different perspectives and skills to the table. What I desire as an IEN is a supportive environment that acknowledges and leverages every nurse’s unique experiences. This includes ongoing professional development tailored to the specific needs of internationally educated nurses, as well as recognition of the valuable contributions we make to healthcare worldwide. Thank you for bringing attention to this important topic!
