Ocean Conservation. Science. Policy. Working to support Indigenous Communities and Indigenous Scientists in coastal areas around the world.
At the #OceanKAN, we already have used "Impact Networking" practices and "Network Weaving" to build a trust-based network that spans 30 countries and more than 100 community members. Now, at Moonjelly Foundation, we are using a similar approach, plus Pay It Forward Scaling, to grow a Conservation Impact Network through trust-based conservation finance. At Moonjelly Foundation, we're pioneering a new era of conservation finance, inspired by the principles of trust and community. Our approach, reminiscent of the slow-food movement, focuses on building deep, personal relationships and reducing administrative burdens to empower grantees to focus on their crucial work. We're creating a Conservation Impact Network, connecting conservation organizations and community groups through trust-based relationships. This network is strengthened by our Pay It Forward Scaling, where partners support new members, enhancing our collective impact on conservation. Our efforts are already making waves in regions like the Cook Islands and Latin America, where traditional knowledge and conservation practices are being revitalized. We aim to grow an indigenously-led Conservation Impact Network, proving that trust and collaboration can lead to significant environmental progress. We invite you to be part of this transformative movement. Together, we can scale trust-based conservation to new heights. #ConservationFinance #Moonjelly #SustainableFuture #PayItForward

Salmon Parks strives to build resilience on lands, in waters and within our community. Nature United has provided extensive support to help us initiate and build on our recovery and stewardship goals. We are honoured to be featured in their 2023 Impact Report. 'This year, Nature United worked in partnership with the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation to advance their protection goals. Our projects included an economic cost-benefit analysis and a carbon feasibility study that will provide critical data to support Indigenous-led management plans. Shifting forest management approaches from resource extraction to one that is grounded in ecosystem health and long-term community prosperity is crucial in British Columbia (B.C.) and across Canada. In particular, increasing investments in improving forest management and old growth conservation—while supporting Indigenous leadership in the decision-making—are key to making this shift a lasting and beneficial reality. When led by Indigenous Nations, improved forest management creates stronger cultural, social, environmental and economic outcomes for local communities across Canada.' #Natureunited #Indigenousleadership #oldgrowthconservation

The first of the Roadmap to Sustain SC's accelerators that we will introduce is A Resilient State - Sustain SC Land and Water Action Platform. After five consecutive years of flooding and storms, the South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR) created a plan to protect our state’s natural resources and buffer our communities from increased threats through nature-based solutions. Sustain SC is collaborating with SCOR, as well as businesses and organizations in the industry and conservation sectors to focus on more than just mitigating environmental issues, but shift to land and water protection. By investing in sustainable conservation initiatives throughout the state, the joint efforts will reduce risk, encourage opportunities, and protect natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
