Tomorrow, April 11th, is World Parkinson's Disease Day! This is a great chance to engage in meaningful discussions and do more to spread awareness about Parkinson's disease, the world's fastest growing brain disease. In the four years since the release of our book, we have been advocating and urging the U.S government to ban harmful chemicals such as Trichloroethylene (TCE) and Paraquat, which dramatically increase the risk of Parkinson's disease. Despite the major developments across the years, we can do more! 1. Stanford Medicine has unveiled a novel immune mechanism where a specific set of cells, termed as "military police" or KIR+CD8 cells, play a crucial role in preventing autoimmunity by curbing the over-aggressive behavior of other immune cells. These suppressor-CD8 cells act to protect the body's healthy tissues from being attacked by its own immune system, which can lead to autoimmune diseases. The discovery opens up potential avenues for developing treatments targeting these suppressor cells to enhance their activity or increase their numbers, offering hope for novel therapies for autoimmune conditions. The study, led by Mark Davis, PhD, and published in Science, highlights the importance of these cells in the context of autoimmunity, a complex phenomenon where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues. By understanding the role of suppressor-CD8 cells, researchers are closer to comprehending the intricate dynamics of autoimmunity and paving the way for innovative therapeutic strategies. #healthcareinnovation #healthcare

The “state of ketosis,” achieved by adhering to a ketogenic diet, may exert a protective effect against neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis by improving mitochondrial function and reducing oxidative stress. Research studies continue to enhance our understanding of how ketogenic therapies work and what effects they have on both neurological disorders and the mitochondria.
