Freemasonry exists to inculcate values in a good man to make him a better person. For 300 years we have existed and over this period, some Freemasons have stood taller than others. Not only for their masonic virtues but for the huge contributions they left in society which contributions to Education, Science and the Arts continue to aid, benefit, influence and inspire long after these people were gone. A few star mason names come to mind: Sir Benjamin Franklin, Sir Winston Churchill, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Nelson Mandela, George Washington, Buzz Aldrin, King George VI,Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and H.R.H. Prince Philip. There are hundreds of others whose knowledge, skills or orchestrations contributed to Humanity in significant ways, not including the billions donated to worldly and worthy philanthropic causes benefitting mostly the sick, poor and vulnerable members of our societies. But still, speculation based on figments of fertile imagination often leads others to believe in ficticious narratives and old wives tales that have been spun for so long that they begin to, paradoxically, stand as an imaginary Truth. Just because we dont share our traditions, customs or details of our lessons on the philosophy of Life in the public domain, doesn't mean our conspiracy theorists are right. Some topics ought to be left to be discussed only by those in the know. Human rights advocate with 7+ years experience in legal services | Musicologist researching music in Palestine.
In a historic ruling (live now!), the International Court of Justice has concluded measures taken by Israel in the OPT treat Palestinians differently, constitute systematic discrimination, and represent a breach of "Article 3 of the third". This refers to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (‘ICERD’), the first multilateral treaty that condemns Apartheid. Article 3 is THE article of the 25 Article-long treaty that explictly condemns and prohibits Apartheid: "States Parties particularly condemn racial segregation and apartheid and undertake to prevent, prohibit and eradicate all practices of this nature in territories under their jurisdiction." The court has also described Israel's occupation as a permanent occupation, effectively an annexation, that creates an indefinite and irreversible situation for the Palestinian people which is not justified by Israel's claims of military necessity and violates international law. Israel's transfer of settlers and exploitation of Palestinian natural resources has also been declared unlawful. Regarding the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people and Israel's unlawful presence inside the OPT, the ICJ has asked ALL States to cooperate in putting this into effect. Furthermore, ALL States are under obligation to recognise Israel's presence in the OPT as unlawful and not to render aid or assistance in maintaining their occupation. In summary: - Israel's continued presence as an occupying power in the OPT is unlawful and must be ended as soon as possible. - Israel is under an obligaiton to cease settler activities and evacuate all settlers from the OPT immediately. - Israel is obliged to make reparations for damage caused to Palestinians and Palestinian resources inside the OPT. - ALL States are under obligation not to recognise as legal Israel's unlawful presence inside the OPT and not to render aid or assistance to maintaining their unlawful occupation. - Intl. organistions are under obligation not to recognise Israel's unlawful presence inside the OPT as legal. - UN, the security council, and especially the GA, should consider and implement the measures required to end Israel's unlawful presence and activities inside the OPT as rapidly as possible. This is an inevitable judgement: you can only beat up a small group of people for so long under the protection of the USA before international law is either seen as totally redundant, or it turns in the favour of the people being abused. This is, of course, only an advisory opinion, but it has serious implications for the USA, UK and Germany. The first political commentators are looking, in particular, to Keir Starmer in the UK to recognise this judgement, hoping that this will trigger similar action around Europe. An emotional day for human rights campaigners, but the reality on the ground has not changed for Palestinians living under occupation. Yet.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) just handed down it's advisory opinion on Israel's Occupation (which the UN Gen Ass brought to it). It has been more strongly worded than anyone the ICJ's orders around this conflict. This is my summary. It's declared that: - Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem are illegal. - Israel is unlawfully annexing the natural resources of the Palestinian Occupied Territories. - Israel's policies (around housing permits, housing demolitions, eviction, travel permits, and settler violence) and laws (Absentee Laws) are racially discriminatory and amount to segregation and Apartheid. - Israel's permanent occupation amounts to an unlawful annexation of Palestinian territory. - Israel is illegally applying martial law in the West Bank and it's domestic law in East Jerusalem. - Israel is infringing on the Palestinians' right to self-determination The Court has recommended that Israel provides reparations for their illegal acts, and to provide restitution to those who have been displaced. It is also recommending that all of the UN members work towards realising the Palestinians' right to self determination and has declared it unlawful for anyone to recognise what Israel is doing in the Occupied Territories to be lawful and has prohibited any aid to be given to Israel in respect of its illegal occupation of those territories. This is groundbreaking. An official declaration of an Apartheid state.

Chief Growth Officer @ Comsysto Reply 🚀 Solving Business Challenges with Technology / Digital Transformation 👋 #gernperDu
🇩🇪 As we commemorate October 3rd and the peaceful reunification of Germany today, we should also reflect on the challenges of our time. 🇩🇪 The reunification in 1990 for us germans wasn’t just a celebration—it was (and still is!) a long, complex process of integrating two societies with different systems, values, and experiences. It required patience, resilience, and a willingness to embrace difficult conversations. Today, we face new and some still remaining challenges that demand the same level of courage and commitment. From economic shifts to technological disruption challenged by ongoing war's and social divisions, our world often feels fragmented. But the lesson of reunification is clear: even in times of division, progress is possible through collaboration, understanding, and shared purpose. As we honor this historic day, let’s remind ourselves that unity is not just a moment but a continuous effort—one that we must strive for in our daily lives, in our workplaces, and across society. 🤝 For that, we should remain united as Germans, Europeans, and supporters of a free world.
