In the third quarter of 2023, there was a 2% decrease in global shipments of cellular IoT modules. However, the market share for 5G exceeded 5%, showing an increase in adoption of 5G technology. Despite this, the use of 5G is limited due to the lack of compelling applications and higher prices. What’s your proposed solution to this? #5G #IoT #Technology https://lnkd.in/gdGHkNuG

Founding Partner at Transforma Insights. Technology industry analyst focused on IoT, AI and Digital Transformation.
New Transforma Insights report highlights how IoT connectivity providers need a scalable (both commercially and technically) solution for delivering voice services. 🗣 📕The Position Paper, ‘Why VoLTE/VoNR is a critical part of an IoT connectivity provider's portfolio’, identifies that around one-fifth of IoT connections will need to support voice services, overwhelmingly via Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Voice-over-New-Radio (VoNR). 🥇 It also lists 11 characteristics of an optimised voice capability that IoT connectivity providers will need. This ranges from being secure and compliant to being flexible in call routing and able to enrich calls with contextual information. 📈 The other major consideration for Communications Service Providers is the scalability of the technology solution. Few will have millions of dollars spare to invest in over-provisioned functionality. Instead, they will want a minimal up-front commitment and then scale by number of users with proven technology scalability. 🆓 The report is free to download. Clients choose to provision their technology services through ZLH Enterprises because we find ways to affordably improve their infrastructure. Often before working with us, clients' services may have been disproportionality scaled for their usage needs. This can take the form of unused bandwidth, unwanted add-on services, or other types of line-items that they may not have understood. We will work with you to better understand your existing tech stack and if necessary, provision improved services at the right price-point for your business. Geographically, the Asia Pacific (APAC) region will continue to dominate the IoT landscape with 61 percent of all connections by 2030. This lead is thanks largely to early massive deployments of NB-IoT devices in China. As saturation approaches in China, India’s growth will help offset some of the decline. ReTHINK Research’s forecast suggests the outlook remains positive for 4G CAT-M and NB-IoT in the near term. 5G standardisation work is underway to enhance NB-IoT with 5G alignment, support for non-terrestrial networks (NTNs), transparent roaming, and more. While 4G IoT still reigns supreme today, 5G RedCap is poised to take over the top spot within the next decade. The timing coincides with 2G and 3G sunsets, providing a clear path for the new 5G technology to enable the next wave of IoT innovation. #technews #5g #redcap

31 May 2024 — Research analysts typically do not pay sufficient attention to small, alternative service/technology providers even though some of them are very promising and worth a closer look. Oftentimes, enterprise decision makers or buyers restrict themselves to familiar or famous brand names despite the fact that alternative service/technology providers can offer completely feasible and competitive solutions. As a result, enterprises risk missing out on opportunities that can deliver good (or even better) business value. Over time, I expect such enterprise buying behaviour to change. In my view, the focus should be on "fit for purpose" and business value/outcome. This week I had the opportunity to revisit SPTel, an alternative communications service provider (CSP) based in Singapore (see article below). I hope you will find it interesting and refreshing. #SPTel #SDWAN #SDN #LoRaWAN #IoT #GreenLake
