When we began working on this report, the term 'polycrisis' seemed like a buzzword. But as we delved deeper, we realized it was the reality our communities have long endured. What's labeled a 'new' idea in the developed world is a persistent, overlapping storm we've been navigating. However, what's different about today's context though is the advent of the Anthropocene (an era shaped by human activity). We're entering into an uncertain future where climate change is a reality. Our report offers an Indian lens on the subject. We also explore how philanthropy can radically shift from being about giving, to sharing, through power-shifting processes. For NGOs in India, the choices are stark. Conform to the straitjacket of becoming delivery channels for absent public services, pin one’s hopes on finding the elusive progressive donor, or build a public constituency for one’s work. If Indian civil society, lauded around the world for its diversity, innovation and vibrancy, is to play the full complement of roles demanded of it in a deeply unequal, highly fractured society, and protect our democratic rights and freedoms, it must build the solidarity, cohesion and capacity necessary to influence philanthropic norms and public perceptions to rally to its support. https://lnkd.in/g6VCfg_q

India has made tremendous progress in the last 78 years; but the critical issue of organ donation continues to remain a significant challenge. Despite the advancements in many areas, the organ donation rate in India lags behind that of developed nations, underscoring the urgent need for greater awareness and participation. The figure—only 66 deceased donations in Delhi in 2023—is indeed concerning, especially considering the population and medical needs of the capital. This statistic points to a broader issue across the country, where a lack of awareness, cultural barriers, and insufficient infrastructure contribute to the low donation rates. On this 78th Independence Day, the call to action is crucial. By pledging to increase awareness, support organ donation initiatives, and encourage discussions around this topic, we can help bridge the gap and save countless lives. It’s a collective effort that requires the participation of individuals, communities, and the government. Let’s work together to ensure that no one in India loses their life due to a shortage of organs. In his article, he explores how well-meaning funders can inadvertently push NGOs towards superficial work, driven by unrealistic demands for scale, speed, and definitive results. The pressure to meet these expectations often compromises the authenticity and rigor of work. Social change is complex, and it can't be rushed or scaled like a factory process. Whenever a woman stands for herself, she not only stands for herself, she stands for all the women around her!! In developing countries like India, women account for 48.5% population in the country. Increasing populations and increasing poverty are the biggest drawbacks that make any country grow faster. Proper sanitation, proper hygiene, food supplies, proper education, etc are the key basic things everyone has right on it. and Govt. as well as individuals are fighting for it daily. But we all know fighting together against one thing is far more easy than fighting with each other and then fighting against one thing. isn't it true? There are so many reasons why India is a developing country, not a developed nation. One of the biggest reasons is that women, who contribute to 48.5% percent population of the country have to fight unnecessary battles on a daily basis like education, food, and basic hygiene, even though there are many parts of India where women are not allowed to take their own basic decisions, people think what they are doing for them is right, is this always right? Child marriage, widow, staying in a toxic marriage rather than getting out of it because society will feel more proud if their daughter comes in the coffin rather than getting a divorce and then coming back home. I know it's hard to accept but it is true! We heard somewhere that "Charity begins at home"!! If we educate women, we not only educate women, it helps to educate whole and grow the whole family, so, can you ever imagine if we give wings to them? what will happen? Women will not only fly and bring prosperity to their families but to the nation as well. we can't neglect half of the population of our nation or can't make their life more devastating with so-called old taboos. If we really want to eradicate poverty from our nation, it can't be done alone. It can only be achieved by bringing both the essential pillars of our country (Men & Women) together. Philanthropy in India is evolving, with UHNIs playing a pivotal role in sustainable development. A recent report by Accelerate India Philanthropy (AIP) and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) highlights that only 11% of top UHNI philanthropists contribute to environmental and sustainability initiatives. As an ecoentrepreneur, I urge more HNIs and companies to prioritize nature conservation. While other social causes are crucial, a healthy environment provides the foundation for all life—clean food, air, and water are essential for every living being. Without this, no amount of education or other social initiatives can make a lasting impact.
