At Modern Widows Club, we understand the importance of recognizing and supporting women who face the greatest exclusions for equity - #widows. Did you know that 70% of all married women will become a widow in their lifetime? For many, several times in their lifetime. Yet, #widowhood remains an invisible status in society with women's events, programs, services and philanthropy, leaving millions of women to face the number one most stressful life event without support. According to the United Nations Progress on the Sustainability Development Goals, it will take 286 years to close the global gender gap. Women’s representation in positions of power and decision-making remains below parity. By recognizing the accomplishments of women, we value her contribution while inspiring other women to do the same. Universal Womens Network™ | Women-Owned The 2016 Global Widows Report identifies four primary causes of suffering among widows globally: financial instability, disinheritance, government neglect, and social exclusion. Inclusion is the first step towards educating others about the catastrophic impacts of the other three issues. It's essential for widow advocates to be represented in all women's initiatives discussing women's issues, as currently, this representation is lacking. We believe that caring for women's causes means also caring for the largest women's cause that remains invisible for support - #widowsupport. Let's inspire change for all women by recognizing and supporting widows. We welcome allies to inspire necessary change in research, philanthropy, government, and social justice. A human rights-based approach is essential to promote awareness and advocacy. To empower marginalized groups, Civil Society and human rights bodies must identify and educate them on their rights and help them claim them. For persons with disabilities and LGBTQIA+ individuals, community awareness is crucial as they face exclusion and discrimination in their communities, including in education, employment, and healthcare. These marginalized groups also face barriers to accessing formal financial services such as banking, savings accounts, and credit. Adequate financing for disability-relevant services and support is critical to ensure that these individuals have an equal opportunity to participate in society. Let's continue working towards a world where everyone's rights are respected and protected. #HumanRights #Equality #DiversityandInclusion

Management Consultant helping Fortune 500 and PE-backed firms plan and execute value-creation strategies and transformations.
This is arguably one of the most profound perspectives of the failures of #DEI I have ever read as told by a supposed beneficiary of the initiatives. Helping the less fortunate, regardless of any physical attributes, should be done by anyone with the opportunity to do so. And it isn't accomplished by giving them preferential treatment, teaching them to hate, constantly discussing race/gender, or telling them that they are victims. It comes from "telling them that they are worthy, that they are somebody, that they have a purpose in life, and that they have the tools and the ability to create positive change for themselves and for their community" as the author so eloquently puts it. Taking that a step further means not just telling them, but helping them find opportunities to better themselves, their families, and their communities. Think teaching a man to fish instead of just giving a man a fish so that he learns to appreciate his catch and aim to perfect his skill and become more successful. That is the solution to naturally building more inclusive and diverse businesses and societies. **Thank you Stanley K. Ridgley for sharing this article.** #hr #hiring #diversity #inclusion #diversityandinclusion

#Talentserve #Task5 Title: - Social Justice Issues and Activism. Today, let's talk about social justice issues and activism. It's a topic that can help us make a positive impact in our communities. So, let's get started! First off, what are social justice issues? Simply put, they're problems in society that affect fairness and equality. These issues can range from discrimination based on race, gender, or sexual orientation to economic inequality and access to education or healthcare. They're big challenges that need attention and action. But why should we care about social justice issues? Well, because they affect all of us, directly or indirectly. When one group of people is treated unfairly, it undermines the pillars of society. Social justice isn't just about doing what's right—it's about creating a world where everyone has equal opportunities and rights. So, what can we do about it? That's where activism comes in. Activism is about taking action to bring about social change. It can take many forms, from peaceful protests and marches to organizing community events and advocating for policy changes. The key is to find what resonates with you and get involved in a way that feels meaningful. But activism isn't just about shouting from the rooftops—it's also about listening. Listening to the experiences of those affected by social injustice and amplifying their voices. It's about educating ourselves on issues that may not directly affect us and using our privilege to uplift marginalized voices. Now, you might be thinking, "But what can I, as one person, do to make a difference?" The truth is, every action, no matter how small, counts. Whether it's signing a petition, volunteering at a local organization, or having difficult conversations with friends and family, you have the power to create change. And remember, social justice isn't a one-time thing—it's an ongoing commitment. It requires us to constantly examine our own biases, challenge injustice when we see it, and stand in solidarity with those fighting for equality. So, whether you're new to the world of social justice activism or a seasoned advocate, let's continue the conversation. Let's work together to build a more just and equitable world for all. Thanks for reading, and until next time, keep striving for change! ✊

As a Puerto Rican Hispanic woman, I often reflect on whether the systemic barriers I face would differ if I were not immediately seen as a “white woman,” but rather recognized as a minority. Navigating obstacles and seeking support has been a challenging journey. These experiences underscore the critical need to acknowledge and address disparities within our systems. Understanding how identity influences our interactions with support systems is essential for fostering equity. Let’s engage in meaningful dialogue and advocate for equitable treatment for all. #BarberBeauty413 #JourneyToAdvocacy #JustAMomFromAkron #DRS75 #Resilience #CommunitySupport #SystemicChange #PersonalGrowth #Empowerment #Transformation #DiversityMatters #EquityInAction #ProfessionalInsight #DontRaiseStatistics #DefyTheOdds
