As school resumes tomorrow, here is a piece of counsel for students: -It's okay to make friends but always be conscious that you are on a personal journey. Remember your values and where you came from. Do not think, every child came there to study. -You are never too young to make a difference or live a purposeful life. Please don't let peer pressure or a desire to fit in cause you to lose sight of your values. -Put in your best in your education. Being well educated is important. School will never and has been a scam. Remember that everything has its time, and that the education you receive now is not for the present but rather for the future, so make an effort to standout and achieve good grades. -Respect your teachers.its a privilege having them teach you. Don't insult or look down on your teachers no matter how small they are. -Be proud of your parents and be helpful. If your mother sells in the market or does any petty trade, don't be ashamed to go help her after school.Shame na for people way get, so help your parents to continually provide for you. -Be intentional: Intentionality comes with focus. There will be several distractions of course, but to achieve your goals, you must be intentional about every step you take. Lastly, Don't forget you have a bright future, no matter the challenges, be hopeful and positive. 📢 Publication Alert! 🎉 I have been a member of the National Career Development Association for almost 10 years and have never submitted to their web magazine. All thanks goes to my dynamic writing team Shaunda Thompson and Ryia Steps, MA, NCC for giving up free time to dive into this piece directed at career coaches and practitioners. Integrating the Theory of Being with Social Cognitive Career Theory enables career services professionals to offer culturally sensitive interventions that highlight the critical role of work environments and identity. Understanding students' cultural backgrounds enriches the efficacy of this support. Bringing theory into practice to support student outcomes and career readiness!
