SHAPERS OF TOMORROW ARE GOING PINK ! 🎀 The month of October is pink in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer. In order to take part in this effort, our series Shapers of Tomorrow offers an episode dedicated to the new technologies being developed to help detecting and healing better all types of cancers. Have a look at the episode Detect & Protect ! Synopsis ✍ : Life expectancy is constantly increasing because researchers are finding new treatments and cures every day. But it’s also thanks to increasingly precise prevention and early detection methods, whether it’s to improve our immunity or diagnose diseases more quickly and more accurately. Medical innovation is making constant progress in this field. #PinkOctober #BreastCancerAwareness #Thinkpink #BreastCancerMonth #innovation You can watch the episode here ⬇ ⬇ ⬇

Existentially non-avoidant, future Ale Wife and ex-Associate Professor of Biochemistry at University of Nebraska-Lincoln
This is a major reason for my decision to leave science and academia. Science is a creative art, much like composing, or painting. It requires, skill, inspiration, passion, devotion, sacrifice and leaps of faith. It is a human endeavor that creates beauty. Beauty that can be appreciated by everyone and is for everyone. The commodification of science serves only to smear that beauty with the stench of capitalism, to reduce it to the transactional, dog-eats-dog world of winners and losers. Anyone learned in the history of science can see that science does not work that way, that beauty can not be created that way. Beauty requires honesty of mind & spirit, integrity of soul and speech. Selling your mind and soul, your own project, for a government grant, is ugly. xoxo, Jen https://lnkd.in/g9FwGKvS

"In celebration of #Cancer #Immunotherapy Month, Roger Waltzman, CMO at Indaptus Therapeutics (NASDAQ INDP), sat down for a moment to reflect on his journey. From a young age, the loss of a few family pets sparked his curiosity about diseases, steering him towards a career in medicine. Today, he leads Indaptus' efforts to #revolutionize #cancertreatment by harnessing the power of the #immunesystem to target and destroy cancer cells, and bring #innovative solutions to cancer patients." https://lnkd.in/gPQPzDrR #Pfizer

-You can't achieve anything without being a bit bold! says Dr Jacqui McGovern. Hear Jacqui talk about her passion for research and collaboration. Dr McGovern's research bridges #tissue #engineering and #cancer #biology to study cancer interacting within the #bone #microenvironment. While her research focuses on bone metastatic cancers including breast and prostate cancer - as well as bone resident tumours such as multiple myeloma - the primary focus is #osteosarcoma, the most common bone tumour. #WomenInTechnology #WomenInSTEM #WomenInTech #WomenInScience #STEM #science #biomedtech #stemcells #tissueengineering #CBT #QUTResearch

BAD SCIENCE - What's true and what's not true? Even my beloved father, a distinguished and brilliant surgeon, had trouble separating fact from fiction regarding "dodgy" science claims. For example, "red wine prevents breast cancer" or "fish oil improves school performance." Seems reasonable but these claims are not supported by EVIDENCE. Please watch this! https://lnkd.in/emUkUEFV

I had the pleasure to be interviewed by Jessica from the The Antibody Society to describe the science and research behind the microscopy image I submitted for the microscopy competition and got its place as November image in the 2024 calendar! Science is also art and microscopy allows us to visualize the beautiful world of biology. For those working with antibodies or anybody-based therapies like me and my research group, microscopy is fundamental to assess the performance of our mAb candidates as drug delivery vehicles. If you wanna hear more about it, here is the link! #research #antibody #microscopy #science #adc #drugdevelopment The Antibody Society
⭐ Creating Art with Science: a new interview with the scientist behind the November image of our 2024 calendar, Virginia Metrangolo (University of Copenhagen) is now available on our YouTube Channel! https://lnkd.in/edRhHVeh Tune in to know more about the potential Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADC) in solid tumor immunotherapy! New paper alert! Written by Evi Bakker and Helen Driessen and my NWO (Dutch Research Council) Vidi team, in the context of the SMART project. Relatives of persons with advanced cancer are faced with substantial caring tasks and social and existential challenges. Their relatives' illness may disrupt common notions of what is and feels "normal". But what is "normality"? Is it doing as we always did, as much as possible? Or is it crafting new normals? In this paper, we aim to gain insight into adaptation processes of redefining normality and its influencing factors in relatives of patients with advanced cancer. We use Brandstädter coping theory of assimilation and accommodation as a framework. Have a look, it is #qualitativeresearch and it is open access! https://lnkd.in/eK2376Pm Leonieke Kranenburg Marjolein Lugtenberg Nancy Luu Erica Witkamp
