We are pleased to have organized a joint seminar with the Republican Telecommunications Management Center (RTMC) of Uzbekistan. The seminar, which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on June 3rd, served as a platform for productive discussions and collaboration between Ookla and RTMC. During the seminar, Mr. Jamol Makhsudov, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, shared insights about the “Digital Uzbekistan 2030” program, aiming to transform the nation into a developed digital country by 2030. Victor (Jun) Zeng, Ookla’s Sales Director for the APAC region, emphasized the importance of data analysis and insights in telecommunications regulation. These efforts are expected to contribute to the development of wireless and optical network infrastructure in Uzbekistan.

Truly, well deserving Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya ! You have been true North Star for the telecom sector for over 2 decades, one who saw and visualised things 10 yeses ahead. I remember when you spoke of screen convergence back in 2005, expecting single platform with handheld, tv, tablets connect/ switched in one data plan. I recall you spoke of voice being sunset way before even data kicked in. The Camel Hump theory of voice vs data price elasticity. structural separation of netcos vs serviceco to woo different investor groups. And most recently, "telco to techco" transformation. An ardent supporter and true General of connecting the unconnected in our part of the world, one digital identify for individuals to remove mistrust in the system and onwards boost economy activities, bridging digital divide, telecom as a mean to bring communities together in emerging markets, proliferation of 2g to 5g (and beyond), telecom as a means to bring equilibrium and parity the society we live. Above all, an absolute gentleman to the core. Rarely speaks, but when he speaks, the most wisdom in the room, everyone stay quite to listen to him. It's an absolute pleasure to witness your joinery ! And, time has come for you to write the blueprint for telecom industry for the next decade where network in indeed a "basic human right", ubiquitous and sensory use cases 5g/6g, open and dispassionately shared network design to bring the cost per gb down are the nobel and audacious objective to realise !
