Over the years, our organization at Open Goal Project has been asked what are some of the hidden costs and obstacles our young men and women face in today’s pay-to-play youth soccer landscape. So we’re going to try to share a bit more to illustrate what those fees and barriers are that have historically prevented our student athletes from competing in travel soccer programs. This weekend, 7 of our DCFC club teams will be competing in DC, MD, and VA. in total, just for referees, our organization will be paying $670 in fees for these seven games. This is the true cost of youth soccer in this country and why our 100% free-to-play club DCFC is so crucial for our community. More to come on this piece of our mission. Even the field, change the game.
