The 2023 results of the "UI GreenMetric World University Rankings", which measures and evaluates the determination of world universities on "Environmental Awareness, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Transportation Management and Sustainability", have been announced. Mersin University achieved a significant success by ranking 319th among world universities, rising 74 places compared to the previous year, and 31st among 98 universities among Turkish universities, in the evaluation in which 1183 universities were ranked. Mersin University, which achieved an important result in the "Green Campus" studies where various projects were implemented in this regard, has made its name among the "Green Universities" around the world. #mersinuniversity https://lnkd.in/dbdraqcP

ABCD Future Environmental Leaders Scholarships 2024 - Call for applications for Doctoral Students from the Global South (submission deadline of October 15th, 2023). The "Global Water and Climate Adaptation Centre – Aachen, Bangkok, Chennai, Dresden (ABCD-Centre)" is a collaborative initiative involving RWTH Aachen University, Asian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, United Nations University-FLORES, and Technische Universität Dresden. This consortium strives to comprehensively address the worldwide challenges of #watersecurity and #climateadaptation. Applications are now open for two #scholarships, each lasting 12 months, targeting doctoral students from the Global South. The aim is to support research that can be translated into practical solutions. I'm thrilled to announce that I've been awarded the Chancellor's Research Fellowship 2024 (CRF24)! I will start working at the School of Architecture, Faculty of Design, Architecture, and Building, University of Technology Sydney, in mid-2024! I look forward to working on my interdisciplinary project with my sponsors: Dr. Nimish Biloria (Faculty of Design, Architecture, and Building) and Dr. Cuong Ton-That (School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences)! Project: Data-driven Bio-fabricated carbon-negative building skin for passive COOLing (BioCOOL) Summary: High temperatures and frequent, prolonged heat waves have increased global space cooling demand, thus elevating fossil fuel-based generation and emissions. Furthermore, existing space cooling and passive and adaptive building skin solutions are energy-dependent and have high embodied carbon. BioCOOL aims to develop a biomimetic, bio-fabricated (from agriculture waste), weather-resistant, and carbon-negative building skin with mycelium composites for climate resilience capable of passive evaporative cooling through interdisciplinary research and innovation in building skin, bio-based material development, and large-scale prototyping. "Exciting Developments in International Research Collaboration 🌍🔬 Just had an inspiring technical meeting with our colleagues (Wojciech Franus, Rafal Panek, Jarosław Madej ) from the MSAGroup - Materials/Synthesis/Application at Lublin University of Technology. Building on the momentum from our visit last September, we're forging ahead with our collaborative efforts. We are in the process of submitting a proposal for the project 'Collaborative Models in International Research: Advancing Pore-Structured Materials for Industrial Applications,' under the Strategic Partnerships Programme of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. This initiative aims to deepen our understanding of pore-structured materials and strengthen the bonds of international academic cooperation. We're especially looking forward to the researcher exchange program, fostering a vibrant community of scholars and innovators. As we work towards securing funding, our anticipation grows for the wealth of knowledge and experiences this partnership will bring. The registration for the São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS) on Transdisciplinarity for Transformative Change is now open! The School is primarily funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) with support from several other organizations. Classes will take place in São Luiz do Paraitinga/SP/Brazil between April 8 and 18, 2024. Applications are open until January 8, 2024. The SPSAS Transdisciplinarity is open mainly to graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, traditional knowledge holders and professionals from environmental and social science fields with an interest in sustainability science. The School program includes four modules that cover the following topics: the global environmental change context and essential concepts for understanding it; methodologies based on transdisciplinarity in social-environmental sciences; transdisciplinary initiatives fostering transformative change in science-policy arenas; and challenges in achieving transformative change.
