Let me talk a little about community This is Kees Kees was the owner of Humming bird In the heart of Amsterdam, is Humming Bird coffee bar, a place that became more than just a spot for coffee (for me anyway). I’m the owner of the barbershop around the corner, and it wasn’t long before Kees and I became familiar faces to each other. Over four years, this place turned from a mere establishment to a cornerstone of my daily life. During the lockdown, Humming Bird served as a beacon of connection for me and my friends, a place where we could cling to a sense of normalcy in a world that felt increasingly isolated. It was here, amidst casual conversations, that I found an apartment when I was desperately in need, conducted business meetings, and as a bonus I met my girlfriend here. Kees and I spent countless hours basking in the sun, sipping coffee, and watching life unfold around us. He was not just a café owner but a advisor, a friend, and a significant part of my journey. As the Humming Bird prepares to change hands, it’s a bittersweet moment that prompts reflection on the role of local businesses in our lives. These places are more than just points of transaction; they are the heart and soul of our communities. They provide a platform for meaningful connections, personal growth, and shared experiences. Local businesses like Humming Bird are the unsung heroes of our neighborhoods, creating spaces where friendships are formed, love blossoms, and support networks are built. This transition has led me to ponder about community and my place within it. Only now do I fully realise that I was part of a vibrant community all along, woven together by the threads of daily interactions and shared moments at this coffee spot. The story of Humming Bird and its impact on my life is a testament to the incredible power of local businesses in shaping our lives. They nurture the social fabric of our communities, fostering environments where we can all find a sense of belonging. As we move forward, it’s crucial that we continue to support these establishments, recognising their invaluable contribution to our personal stories and the collective narrative of our community. We just wrapped up planning the Los Angeles Region Small Business Summit. It was a wild ride—5 days, 5 venues across LA County, all aimed at giving local businesses a boost. Our mission? Create a space where 1,900+ entrepreneurs could learn, connect, and grow. We started by picking five distinct venues across LA County to maximize reach: - The Coliseum - LA Mission College - California State University Los Angeles - The Reef on the Water - Antelope Valley College Each day, we transformed these spaces into hubs of entrepreneurial energy. Our team coordinated: - 210 exhibitor booths - 65 expert speakers - Countless networking opportunities But the best part? Seeing it all come together. Watching people make connections, find resources, and leave with new ideas—it reminded us why we do what we do. Events aren't just about fancy setups or logistics. They're about creating moments that matter. Want to bring your own event to life? Let's chat about how to bring it to life.

In 4+ years, 1 word that sums up 1 of the most important business lessons I have learnt? Let me explain a story first. Yesterday I popped down the road to the local butchers (top one at that, check out the Butchers Block, Banstead), had a good chat with Ryan the owner. Walking back I bumped into a local who has carried out labouring for us over the years, and his father and grandfather renovated our office (top job by PBD construction!). He is a biker, so we had a good chat about the brand new Harley he had just picked up and was standing next to. Then on my way to the local M&S, I said hello to the local barber Frang (check out Sammies, the best barbers around). I always get a buzz from knowing locals and these small interactions, indeed since we moved here 4+ years ago, I often say hello or give a smile to locals, even if I don't know them. Afterwards It dawned on me, why do I get a buzz? I believe that with globalisation, big cities, people withdrawing more into their homes (working from home doesn't help) and themselves, we are missing these interactions with good people, we are social animals after all (yes i'm an animal, make of that what you will!). I've noticed as I do this, I am happier, nicer to others as well as myself, and people are nicer to me. And we have strived to create this within our business for both staff and our clients. So what is this thing summarised in 1 word? ✅ Community! The best brands create communities, today, more so than ever. Why? Because it feels good, it is missing more than ever, and its fun. Businesses have to be profitable yes, but there's need for us to be boring, you can make it fun! Let's get building more communities. We're launching some exciting ideas very soon on how we can be a bigger part of the local community, keep your 👀 peeled, on my Linkedin. And next time you're walking around, try smiling at someone, drop a comment below and tell me what happens, or tell me what you think about this? #FinancialPeaceOfMind #Community #Branding

https://lnkd.in/eqs39Hkp I love a good entrepreneurial story - after all, when you run your own business, there are plenty of moments when you don’t know where your current “experiment” is going to take you… At Paultons Park - home of Peppa Pig World - three generations of the same family have been successfully running the business, taking risks and making some pretty big decisions all while developing the entrepreneurial spirit in the family. I find it really interesting to read how each generation has taken over the reigns (and responsibility) of the family business, retaining the same values but at the same time seeing opportunities, moving with the times and doing things their own way. They are a classic example of a business that took a risk (backing the Peppa Pig brand when it was nowhere near the brand it is today) and that risk paid off. In the current economic climate, it’s these kinds of businesses - ones with spirit, drive and a willing to experiment that will come out the other side. Have you read a business story recently that left you feeling inspired? #BusinessSuccessStory #FinancialRecruitment #ArtemisClarke
