https://lnkd.in/ezMWKmye Rainwater harvesting is becoming vital for sustainable water systems, especially in urban areas. Potable rainwater use reduces dependency on traditional water supplies and enhances stormwater management. OptiRTC collaborates with developers to implement innovative stormwater reuse solutions while meeting regulations. For insights on maximizing potable rainwater harvesting efficiency, read the full article by OptiRTC's Kathy Gee, Randolph College's Sarah Sojka, and Rainwater Management Solutions' Benjamin Sojka in Stormwater Solutions Magazine https://lnkd.in/erPhXSJP Aliaxis Next #sustainability #rainwaterharvesting #opti #waterreuse

Around 25% of people on earth face shortages of water for drinking, sanitation, agriculture and economic development. But there are many unconventional water resources we are not making full use of! To tackle water scarcity, we could consider; - Investing in innovative and efficient water management practices including new technologies for irrigation and storage, wastewater treatment and reuse, circular economy principles, and ecosystem-based solutions. - Exploring unconventional resources, such as cloud seeding, desalination, catching fog and iceberg harvesting (the more than 100,000 Arctic and Antarctic icebergs that melt into the ocean each year contain more freshwater than the world consumes). - Ensure that water use aligns with the 2030 sustainable development agenda for the benefit of the planet. Besides investing in water infrastructure, embracing new technologies and investing in staff training is important, society at large have a role to play in this issue; government should be imposing targets to utilities to reduce losses. Technologies and sustainable solution should be embraced and consumers educated on the importance of sustainable consumption. At Ramboll we have experts who can help governments, organisations or utilities to address their challenges associated with water scarcity in a time of climate change and population growth. #Waterscarcity #Ramboll #climatechange #Rambollwater

This year's World Environment Day campaign is focused on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience 🌍 Did you know, you have helped mitigate a whopping 40,02 metric tons of CO2e during 2023?! How, you ask? 🤔 We use UPS Carbon Neutral Shipments which compensate for the emissions produced with offsetting projects. These projects include reforestation, landfill gas destruction, wastewater treatment, and methane destruction 🌳 So, when you order with us, you can rest assured that UPS will offset the climate impact of the delivery! #GenerationRestoration #WorldEnvironmentDay

Did you know? 🛫 Wastewater generates nearly as much emissions as the aviation industry. Most don't. That's why WINZ - Water Initiative for Net Zero exists. We work with partners to highlight opportunities where water-related actions can have a big impact on reducing emissions e.g. in nature, agriculture, clean energy, sanitation and water utilities. Why? ⚠ Water is make or break for climate action. We do not have time to miss these opportunities. This #WorldWaterDay, follow us on LinkedIn and sign up to our newsletter for resources, insights and evidence and be part of a movement to build awareness and understanding of water as a climate solution. 📩 https://lnkd.in/eCDTQP3T

The importance of harnessing rainwater to survive is its nature as a renewable and accessible resource, which can mitigate the growing global water crisis. As traditional sources of drinking water (rivers, lakes and aquifers) are threatened by climate change, pollution and overexploitation, rainwater harvesting offers a sustainable, decentralized and economical solution to supply communities across the world. world. Rainwater is clean, does not require intensive extraction processes and its collection can be implemented in urban and rural areas. Using it reduces pressure on ecosystems and ensures that, even in times of drought, people can access a vital source of water. In addition, capturing and storing rainwater reduces the risk of flooding and soil erosion, which contributes to environmental balance. Therefore, integrating rainwater harvesting into daily infrastructure is not only a practical response to water scarcity, but an essential step towards responsible and resilient management of natural resources, ensuring the survival of future generations. This World Environment Day, we encourage you to go beyond awareness and channel resources towards real change. The voluntary carbon market offers a powerful tool to achieve this. Here's how the voluntary carbon market works: ✅ Businesses and individuals can offset their carbon footprint by purchasing verified carbon credits. ✅ Each credit represents one tonne of CO2 removed or avoided through a certified project. ✅ The revenue generated from these credits finances critical environmental initiatives worldwide. This year’s #WorldEnvironmentDay campaign focuses on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.
