Cormac, that has not been my experience for 45 years ! - My work experience has only been here in Ireland and within my 45 years experience in Ireland, if one does the right thing, produces positive results and solutions to technical problem solving, one can end up in the cross hairs of certain individuals and one ends up being sacked, dismissed or shunned.
