A new atlas shows the potential for walking or cycling. On this platform, Barcelona, Granada, Valencia and Palma de Mallorca are shown, highlighting their characteristics that promote sustainable mobility on foot and by bicycle. It combines 57 georeferenced variables in order to provide detailed data and analysis on urban densities, cyclability, green spaces, urban vitality and also on the concept of 15 minute city. The goal of it is to be a rigorous and reliable source of information for a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle in urban environments. It emphasizes the importance of this mobility and the indicators necessary to measure the potential of the built environment for walking and cycling. The last weekend, I attended the Festibike. It is one of the indispensable events in the bike calendar that happens in Madrid. It is in the country's center and covers what other big ones cannot, not only geographically, but size-wise, costs... Not in vain, it has been for twenty years in the run. LAST LAP organizer's team led by Guillermo de Portugal pushes the envelope to keep the Festibike up there. Part of this success relies on adaptability and innovation. For 2023, the Festibike held the Festibike Congress sponsored by my friends in blue at Shimano. I attended the most relevant conferences, according to my professional profile. It was a unique opportunity to learn about market behavior and perspective. Toni Amat Vilarò, Jesus Freire. Laura Vergara Román, and Diego Muñoz Avia were the authorized voices under the moderating role of Luis Miguel Del Cerro García. We were given some keys about what's cooking in the bike biz. So insightful and useful. Initially, the registration announced a sold-out attendance. When the time came, 80% of the seats were empty. In my thinking, shops, distributors, and other actors were entitled and the addresses of those conferences. Learning, arising, and participating somehow were on the table. Una interesante gira tecnológica, gracias a la invitación de Cluster Montagne. Queremos seguir aportando al desarrollo turístico sostenible de las montañas de Chile y los centros de montaña son en gran parte uno de los principales atractivos que canalizan las visitas de chilenos y extranjeros. Asimismo son empresas que tienen una épica admirable desde su concepción, y no son negocios fáciles donde la pasión por la montaña caracteriza a los que están detras de esto Compartir un viaje con personalidades de todo el mundo, donde se enfrentan desafios y dolores comunes es clarificador y a la vez motivante. Un par de findings generales que son comunes a muchos destinos y centros de montaña del mundo: 1. Movilidad: Alrededor de un 52% de la "huella de carbono" que deja una jornada de actividades en la montaña provienen de como se accede a ellas. Innovadoras soluciones multimodales, transporte compartido, transporte público son interesantes soliciones. 2. DIversificación de la oferta: Un desafío compartido por todos los destinos y centros de montaña. Como hacemos un equilibrio entre la montaña que "respire" y generar un atractivo durante todo el año. Aqui acciones que realiza Ski La Parva o Valle Las Trancas con el Mountain Bike son ejemplos, pero en el viaje pudimos apreciar bonitos ejemplos de slow travel, wellnes y accesibilidad. 3. Atracción de talentos: Como hacemos que esta industria, sector, actividad, sea atractiva para que personajes inteligentes puedan estar en puestos ejecutivos y de primera linea. 4. Crisis Climática: Adaptación, nuevas soluciones, electro movilidad, inversión pública y empoderamiento comunitario fueron algunos ejemplos que pudimos apreciar en este ámbito. 5. Nuevos practicantes locales: Como hacemos que la propia comunidad local/nacional sean nuestros principales usuarios, sean además nuestros fans de la montaña y que exponencialmente pueda crecer la práctica de deportes outdoor y de montaña en Chile. Iniciativas como las del programa Chile Esquia de ACESKI. la Fundación DEPORTELIBRE, Fundación Chile Esquia o el programa de Valle Nevado de que los menores de 12 años esquian grátis van en esa dirección. 🚲🌱 Shared E-Bikes: What's the Big Deal? The Evolve E-Bike share program started May 1st, supplying 100 e-bikes for Nanaimo while costing $0.35 per minute and $12.99 per additional hour. And the first 1000 new Evo members will receive 30 minutes free. Aside from health benefits, this new e-bike share program connects to broader City goals that aim to connect communities and provide residents with sustainable transportation options. E-bike sharing programs cut carbon emissions by 108–120 grams/km, compared to cars that release, on average, 206 grams/km.
