Welcome to our new monthly ‘Meet & Greet’ series, where we put the spotlight on the exceptional individuals behind our agency's success! Kicking off our inaugural feature (for those who caught the teaser on National Intern Day) is our bright and ambitious Marketing Intern, Gigi! What attracted you to intern at LMCA? "I was genuinely drawn to LMCA for the chance to explore global licensing and brand extension - a field that was completely new to me. I was eager to learn how brands grow through strategic partnerships. LMCA's industry leadership and the opportunity to work with well-known brands really resonated with my interests in marketing and advertising. It felt like a perfect fit!" What's the most surprising thing you've learned about the licensing industry? "I was truly surprised to discover that licensing goes far beyond just using a brand's name—it's a strategic growth tool that can open new markets and strengthen brand equity. Finding the right brand-licensee alignment to create authentic partnerships is both challenging and crucial. It's been eye-opening!" What brand are you most excited to work on? "While I'm excited about all the brands in LMCA's portfolio, I have to say I'm particularly thrilled about Kodak! As someone who loves photography, I'm really looking forward to seeing the behind-the-scenes work that goes into Kodak's partnerships. It's a brand that's close to my heart." What do you appreciate about LMCA's culture? "I really value LMCA's collaborative and supportive environment. There's a genuine emphasis on teamwork, with everyone encouraged to share ideas regardless of their role. The mentorship I've received since joining has been incredibly valuable for my growth. It feels like a place where I can truly learn and contribute." What aspect of the licensing process excites you the most? "The creativity involved in brand partnerships is really exciting to me. I love seeing how well-known brands can extend into new areas that make strategic sense and connect with consumers. Watching a product's journey from concept to shelf is fascinating - there's so much more to it than I initially realized!" With Canadian Marketing League/Canada's Next Top Ad Exec Preseason Case submission deadline approaching (January 27th), I would just like to provide important information about the competition for those who are not familiar with the event itself or CML. Once the preseason deadline is met, the registration portal will be closed. Reflecting on an Incredible Post-Grad Internship at Weber Shandwick: I despise writing novel-length LinkedIn posts, but as much as I would love to spare you, the amount of exposure I received this summer can't be summed up in a paragraph. These past three months have been a whirlwind of growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences- here's what I've been up to: ➡ Barbie (Mattel, Inc.): Contributed to powerful campaigns, including, but not limited to, the first-ever Blind Barbie & Black Down Syndrome Barbie, Sue Bird Barbie collaboration, and the Barbie Brand Campaign for the Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever WNBA game. I had the honor of owning all media materials for Barbie Dream Besties, honing my skills in media list development, brand messaging, pitching, and campaign tracking. ➡ UNO (Mattel, Inc.): Worked on the Colorblind initiative and the UNO x NFL collaboration. My role involved media audits, campaign and mailer ideation, and copy development. ➡ Danone: Supported the REMIX campaign through influencer sourcing and communications. I joined Danone’s trends engine team to track consumer trends and develop the future of all influencer mailers. In addition to working across Oikos, Light + Fit, Activia, and Too Good & Co., I contributed to Silk's campaign ideation and strategy practices. ➡ Staples: Worked on the Back to School Campaign, managing pitching, media list development, and client communications. I created the weekly Staples Round-Up, an essential internal resource for Staples Inc. employees. ➡ Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative: Contributed to the Maine Lobster Tour with influencer activations and communications. I also worked on National Maine Lobster Day and Maine Lobster Week, celebrating Maine Lobstermen and the restaurants serving Maine Lobster nationwide. ➡ Mimecast: Was immersed in a tech background by developing media lists for acquisitions and managing the weekly News Scan report. ➡ New Business: I had the chance to tap into my passion for sales by exploring pitch angles and business opportunities for iconic brands such as REI, Grillo's Pickles, Nestlé Health Science, and more. I’m excited to continue this work in the future! A huge thank you to my manager, Diala Demashkieh, for her guidance; Katlin Rice, SHRM-CP Rice for her support; and Nyla Saleh for being an inspiring role model. To the rest of the team – thank you for making this internship a valuable and memorable experience. Meet René: Sharing His Journey from Passion to Purpose in Sports Marketing Recently, my son came to me with a request—one that touched my heart. He asked if I could introduce him to my friends in the industry, my network on LinkedIn. You see, René has a dream—a big one. He aspires to be an outstanding sports marketing professional, and his heart beats for this dynamic field. After three years of studying Criminal Law (two years at college and one year in a university foundation program), René made a courageous decision. He switched gears, following his passion, and enrolled in Sports Marketing Management at Manchester Metropolitan University. As a parent, it wasn’t easy—I won’t lie. But I admired his boldness, and I stood by him, even when it pinched the pocket. In René’s own words: “A World Citizen with a Purpose.” His journey, woven with privileges and good fortune, led him here. He believes he belongs on the world stage, collaborating with diverse global players, and tackling real-world marketing challenges. For him, this shift isn’t just about a degree; it’s about meaningful impact and shaping his future. So, here I am, writing this post to share René’s Personal Statement with all of you. Hey there LinkedIn friends, I'm thrilled to share some EXCITING news with you—I'm diving back into the SPORTS BUSINESS industry after a good handful of years, and I couldn't be more AMPED up about jumping right back in. It's a NEW division of what I do, so if you start to see some slightly different content than normal, you know why. My career has come full-circle so get ready as athletes, sports business professionals + organizations now have a turnkey option to create a strategically-crafted video content program for themselves to leverage to the hilt! If you're curious on the backstory, here's a quick read... Many of you know me as the devoted small business advocate that I am and will continue to be, providing ROI-focused marketing plans + video content programs to the little guys and girls that want to go BIG with their local businesses. You may not know that I actually started my career as a professional cycling coach here stateside and as World Cup team manager for the U.S. Cyclocross Team in Western Europe during the mid-1990's. The business side of sports was then my focus and the USF Sport Management Master's Program was where I learned from a who's who of industry pros in every discipline from economics and law, to PR and of course marketing where I chose to specialize. With internships at Charles Schwab & BASOC, the committee to bring the 2012 Olympics here, my final thesis on the ROI of sports venue naming rights got me to the finish line. The opportunity to work as an AE for FCB Global Sports with accounts like AT&T Wireless as well as pro athletes and teams as well as in the advertising arm on accounts like Kikkoman, Lucas Arts gaming and the SF Chronicle was amazing. But that's where job offers and a variety of opportunities temporarily re-routed me, everything happens for a reason. Overseeing million dollar marketing programs for shopping & entertainment venues that see millions of annual visitors AS WELL as helping local and regional businesses of all sizes with strategically-crafted, video content-focused marketing programs for the last 10 years brings me to the present day.
