😷What is ‘nil by mouth’, and why’s it so important?😷 A ‘nil by mouth’ patient is one whose doctor has told them not to eat or drink anything for a certain amount of time before an operation. This includes light snacks, sweets and water. Patients should have an empty stomach during surgery to avoid being sick whilst they’re under anaesthetic. As an additional visual reminder for busy hospital staff, we’ve created pre-printed 🌟NIL by MOUTH🌟 hospital wristbands. What’s more – they’re available in a smaller size to suit babies and young children. Check out our full hospital wristband range here: https://ow.ly/Kjvf50SrJr6 #patientcare #patientsafety #patientID #healthcare #hospitalsupplier #nhs #health #healthandsafety #NHS #doctors #nurse #doctor #hospital

Have you considered how susceptible nurses are to blood and body fluid exposures in acute healthcare environments? Data compiled in the United States found that: 🩸 Nurses sustain the largest percentage of blood and body fluid exposures (BBFE) in acute-care settings in the United States. 🩸 50% -60% splashes that touched unprotected skin of nurses were blood or body fluids visibly contaminated with blood. 🩸️ 83.4% of those splashes occurred to the nurse’s face, 66.7% of which occurred to the nurse’s eyes. 👓 Despite this, only 8.1% of nurses reporting any kind of BBFE said they were wearing eye protection. This data highlights the importance of eye protection in healthcare settings. Eye protection should be worn when there’s a risk of exposure to body fluids or infectious agents, not just when exposure is likely. Let’s prioritize the safety of our healthcare workers. #eyeprotection #PPE #Healthcare Interested in the basics of eye protection?
