Sustainability spotlight: Fostering a circular economy! Horizon Auto Logistics in Caldas, Colombia, has proactively addressed environmental challenges within its operations by implementing a waste management program.  Recognizing the volume of solid waste generated and the visual pollution in its yards, the company partnered with a local association to introduce a waste classification and separation system. This initiative diverts recyclable materials from landfills, reducing pollution and supporting local recycling efforts.  Furthermore, the waste management program generates income through the sale of recycled materials, with proceeds donated to a farmer support program benefiting local families. This sustainable approach not only promotes environmental conservation but also fosters community development.  Looking ahead, Horizon intends to broaden its effective waste management program across all operational sectors to maximize its positive impact.  By promoting a culture of recycling and complete cycles, Horizon embraces the principles of the circular economy. Today marks the 7th Global Recycling Day, observed on March 18th. It serves as a significant reminder for us to reconsider our approach to waste – viewing it not as disposable but as a valuable resource waiting to be utilised. The mission of Global Recycling Day, led by the Global Recycling Foundation, has two primary aims: 1. To emphasise to world leaders the critical importance of prioritising recycling and adopting a unified, global strategy towards it. 2. To encourage individuals worldwide to rethink their consumption habits, valuing resources over disposability. Only by embracing this mindset can we truly unlock the full potential and purpose of recycled materials.
