Thank you Layla Nicholson and The Daily Star for covering my concerns surrounding deepfake non consensual imagery following the recent Parliamentary round table on the issue! Check out a few of my thoughts from the article here and give it a read for the full breadth of my argument - plus the kind of action I hope to see from governments globally. “As AI develops, especially if we don’t match it step-by-step with AI safety innovation, we are going to see an overall rift between our understanding of what’s true and what’s not. Previously, we could watch a video and take it as proof that something did or did not happen. Now, when that medium of 'truth' is so easily manipulated, it will be almost impossible to tell what’s real from what’s fake. Victim-blaming will become even more frequent, and using our voices on the whole will become even scarier, especially in moments of crisis. The public has an overwhelming interest in regulating the safety protocols and practices of AI companies. And the time to act is now – not after the technology is further perfected and widely released.” #deepfakes #womensrights #onlinesafety #ai #ethicaltech #socialmedia #consent #metoo
