It's #BlackHistoryMonth, an annual commemoration of the history, stories, and accomplishments of Black Americans. Throughout the month, we will highlight the important work of the PanCAN community to make equitable progress in the fight against #pancreaticcancer. 💜 Our mission is to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer, but pancreatic cancer doesn’t affect everyone equally. Black Americans are more likely to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer than any other racial or ethnic group in the United States. As the first organization dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer in a comprehensive way, PanCAN has long been committed to centering health equity and eliminating health disparities through 🔬 research, 📣 advocacy, 👥 community engagement, and 💜 patient support. Today, we take another step forward in our commitment to health equity with the establishment of PanCAN’s inaugural Health Equity Committee. Here’s a post to help you put your Tuesday in perspective before you stress about your workload to day…

I know it’s cliché to say that cancer changed me and the way I perceive the world –– but it did. When you go through a life-threatening challenge like cancer, you get access to a different strength hidden in you that uncovers some of the essential truths of life. Here are 7 key lessons I learned: ✨ Let People In: Embrace vulnerability and allow your community to support you. ✨ Let Some Things Go: Find empowerment in setting boundaries and focusing on what truly matters. ✨ Speak Up: Clearly communicate your needs to enable targeted support. Bond Over Shared Humanity: Deep connections are forged in shared experiences, offering healing and comfort. ✨ Gift Yourself Rest: Prioritise self-care and let others help manage practical concerns as much as you can. ✨ Pets as Therapy: The unconditional love of pets can be a profound source of comfort. Laughter as Defiance: Embrace joy and laughter as tools of resistance against the weight of cancer.

Early detection is important. Know your numbers ... not only in business - but in your own life.
