On National Build Day, Alabama Professional Services and Sleep in Heavenly Peace joined forces to tackle a daunting issue: child bedlessness. This initiative aimed to provide hand-made beds to children who, without this support, would have to sleep on floors or couches, contributing to severe health and emotional challenges. Reflecting on my own experiences, I remember volunteering for community projects similar to this where we came together, rolled up our sleeves, and made a tangible impact. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about working collectively to uplift those in need—it's a reminder of the positive change we can create in our communities. Here are 10 facts about what we do and how we’re dedicated to helping the community! 🧡 Founded in 1971, CHiPS is based in the Park Slope/Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn. 🧡CHiPS is a full-service soup kitchen and food pantry open six days a week, as well as a home for expectant single mothers. 🧡Our mission is to ameliorate food insecurity and homelessness in Brooklyn. 🧡We serve 600+ meals daily! 🧡When it comes to food, CHiPS meals are some of the healthiest around. I just received this beauty for my service as a volunteer through work. It's called the "Challenge Coin". If you've never volunteered, you really should consider don't so. The impact it has on your and other communities is so rewarding. We all could be a place for needing assistance, but we're not. So why not be a help to those who are, not just monetarily but with your time. They're is so much to volunteering and you learn a lot as well. Example: a baby cannot go to daycare without a pamper/diaper. Do you know how many pampers/diapers a baby goes through from the time they are born? There are more parents working than you think but their ends do not meet to take care of the necessities such as baby formula (which can cost as much $45 per can) and pampers/diapers. No one woke up one day and said, hmm, I want to be homeless, poor, or destitute. Life happens and some people were overwhelmed by their situation which resulted in their current situation. Be careful who you look down on...it could be you next. #volunteering #volunteerism #veteransrock
