6th Annual State LGBTQ+ Business Climate Index 2024 Out Leadership’s 2024 State LGBTQ+ Business Climate Index, which measures every US state across 22 data points to create a business-lens roadmap of LGBTQ+ equality in the nation, will highlight trends in politics and culture that affect LGBTQ+ Americans and business operations nationwide. Six years ago, Out Leadership launched its first State LGBTQ+ Business Climate Index in the US. This index provides leaders with a roadmap to better understand the many challenges still facing LGBTQ+ Americans. In 2024 alone, over 500 anti-LGBTQ+ laws were introduced nationwide. As we enter an election year, the political and cultural environment in the United States has become increasingly polarized with LGBTQ+-friendly states becoming increasingly inclusive while the worst states for equality become evermore hostile to equality and freedom.

I enjoy bringing people together to solve complex problems, build great products, and get things done at McAfee!
As we mark the end of Pride Month this year, we need to remember that it's more than just a month or day. It's a commitment. Every year, corporations publicize their endorsement for LGBTQ+ equality in June by using rainbow-centric merchandise, emblems, and melodies. As the month-long recognition concludes, it serves as a poignant reminder of the responsibilities that come with being an Ally. As I talked about at #TAweek in January, anti-LGBTQ+ bills and laws are on the rise. The noticeable retreat from some corporate allies, likely due to political pressures, is concerning, especially given the increase in violent threats and the introduction of over 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills this year alone. The rhetoric aimed at turning us against one another only exacerbates these issues, making it clear that our fight for equality is far from over. Collectively, our actions can usher in significant change. Authentic Allyship necessitates a continuous commitment to education, advocating against discrimination, supporting LGBTQ+ organizations, and cultivating inclusive environments. It is imperative to make a steadfast commitment to standing up every day and championing equality. Love is love.

Hello Jeff- in your post below, you talk about #sustainability, #diversity, #inclusion etc but nothing about #accessibility. #Airbus keeps on manufacturing and I presume refurbishing inaccessible #aircraft! In a statement provided to me on behalf of your #CEO Guillaume Faury ( https://lnkd.in/eAuf64YB ) he said the company is working on better accessibility but he and your PR team will not give a timeline for this? Can that be so difficult to do? Could you provide a timeline for when accessibility, especially for the #mobility disadvantaged will be a standard feature of all Airbus #commercial aircraft? https://chng.it/DpdHd7VMRZ

As Pride Month continues, we reflected on a few of the actions that allies can take to create an environment where every LGBTQ+ employee feels respected and valued, inside and outside of work. * Stay Engaged: Read reputable sources like GLAAD, Human Rights Campaign, and other advocacy organizations that allow you to regularly update your knowledge and stay informed about evolving language and social contexts. * Create Your Environment: Advocate for inclusive policies such as gender-neutral facilities and non-discrimination clauses. Further, promote LGBTQ+ role models and events within organizations, to celebrate diversity and inspire others to embrace inclusive practices. * Build Meaningful Connections: Build relationships by creating a space where individuals feel comfortable sharing their experiences without fear of judgment. Further, show up at their events. This demonstrates solidarity and reinforces commitment to standing with their community. * Advocacy and Personal Growth: The role of allies can extend beyond personal and professional interactions. For example, it is important to stay informed about legislative changes and actively support pro-LGBTQ+ initiatives. While these actions may be simple, they all contribute to creating a world where diversity is celebrated and everyone can live authentically. Read the full list here! https://lnkd.in/eMJHMXuC

The HRC equity index is a great way to mindfully support pro-LGBTQIA+ companies. It's updated annually, which helps to hold companies accountable as well. While there's no such thing as 100% ethical spending in capitalism, some little adjustments can be impactful in supporting equity.

“Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies, practices and benefits pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees.” I learned about the Corporate Equality Index last year during a meeting with HRC and was so impressed with their vetting of not only their own partners but with companies at a greater scale. This report is worth a look….and then it’s worth bookmarking. Is your employer in it? Is the company you’re interviewing with in it? Partners? Can meaningful companies in your life improve their scores and impact? Share this with your colleagues and HR teams and challenge your org to do better to support their LGBTQ+ workers and policies. #HRC #NonprofitSpotlight #LGBTQ+ #BookmarkThisOne

So great that Lenovo was rated highly in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the sixth year in a row, across policies, benefits, culture and CSR for LGBTQ+ employees. One of our most recent initiatives for our employees is in improving visibility and measurement in a range of demographic categories, encouraging self-disclosure of gender, racial and ethnic identities and both visible and invisible disabilities in internal systems. This will help us in understanding the wonderfully rich variety of people who work for Lenovo, so that we can better serve our internal communities. https://lnv.gy/4aYDRe1
