🚀 Exciting News: Primark Invests €100M, Opens 61st Store in Spain!🇪🇸 📢 Primark continues its growth in #Spain, investing €100 million to open its 61st store in 📍La Vaguada, #Madrid. This expansion plan, announced in November 2022, includes creating 200 new jobs with a total target of around a thousand positions across the country. 📊 The new Madrid store, spanning 5,750 sqm over two floors, introduces twenty-three self-checkout counters alongside traditional ones. With a budget of €80 million for eight planned stores, and an additional €20 million for renovations, Primark aims to reach 10,000 employees in Spain. 🛍️This opening follows the recent launch in #Lorca (#Murcia), with upcoming stores in #Jaén, #Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), and Conde de Peñalver Street (Madrid), completing the ambitious plan with a total of 64 stores in Spain! Mango oltre i 100 negozi in Italia nel 2024 con 15 nuovi opening Continua l’ottimo rapporto di Mango con l’Italia. L’azienda spagnola di abbigliamento e accessori, impegnata nelle celebrazioni per il suo 40° compleanno, proseguirà infatti il piano di espansione retail nello Stivale comunicando che vi rafforzerà la propria presenza con 15 nuovi opening nel 2024, superando i 100 negozi nella penisola entro la fine dell’anno. L'azienda ha innanzitutto inaugurato un flagship store di oltre 1.300 metri quadri a Roma (città in cui ha recentemente aperto negozi nei centri commerciali di Porta di Roma e Romaest), nella Galleria Alberto Sordi di Via del Corso, la principale strada dello shopping della città, una boutique che offre prodotti delle linee Woman, Man e Kids.  L'espansione si concentrerà soprattutto sull'Italia centrale e meridionale, con particolare attenzione alla capitale, dove verrà aperto un punto vendita in Via Nazionale e alle grandi città del nord come Bologna, Genova (dove sbarcherà per la prima volta) e Verona, dove esiste già un punto vendita Mango nel centro commerciale Adigeo, ma in cui aprirà il suo primo negozio di proprietà. “L'apertura e la ristrutturazione dei negozi in Italia rientra nel nostro piano strategico 2024-2026, chiamato 4E, Elevate, Expand, Earn e Empower, che prevede più di 500 nuove inaugurazioni di store monomarca nei prossimi tre anni in tutto il mondo per rafforzare ulteriormente il nostro ecosistema di distribuzione omnichannel” afferma Daniel López, responsabile espansione e franchising di Mango. “L'Italia è uno dei mercati più importanti nel mondo della moda mondiale ed è quindi un mercato chiave per Mango. Il successo delle aperture del 2023 rafforza l'idea di progredire capillarmente e di avvicinarci ancora di più ai nostri clienti con negozi in cui offrire loro l'esperienza Mango”. In Italia, l’azienda iberica andrà anche a ristrutturare 5 negozi per incorporarvi il suo concetto retail New Med di ispirazione mediterranea. Tra questi ricordiamo la ristrutturazione del flagship store di oltre 1.300 m² in Galleria del Corso, nel centro storico di Milano. L'azienda proseguirà inoltre il suo piano di rinnovamento dei negozi nelle stazioni ferroviarie, con i punti vendita di Firenze e Venezia che verranno entrambi impreziositi con l'offerta della linea Woman. Sostenibilità e integrazione architettonica sono la chiave del nuovo store concept New Ned, che concepisce i negozi Mango come una casa mediterranea con spazi diversi in cui predominano i toni caldi e i colori neutri, abbinati a materiali tradizionali, artigianali, sostenibili e naturali come ceramica, tufo, legno, marmo, sparto e pelle. Mango è presente in Italia dal 2001. Nel corso del decennio 2010 l'azienda ha ampliato in modo esponenziale la sua presenza nel Paese con più di 50 punti vendita, e nel 2022 vi ha avviato un nuovo piano di espansione, inaugurando 8 nuovi negozi, portandone il numero totale a circa 80.

In the wake of Coupang's acquisition of FARFETCH the narrative unfolding in the luxury e-commerce sector speaks volumes about the inherent challenges of the marketplace model - further exemplified by Yoox Net-a-Porter's (YNAP) own struggles and its aborted deal with Farfetch. The Farfetch saga underscores a critical lesson: the necessity to focus on core competencies. While Farfetch ventured into acquiring other retailers and diversified extensively, it might have been better off leveraging its wealth of data to develop private label brands, focus on search and personalization and on its successful SaaS model, evidenced by its collaborations with Harrods, FERRAGAMO and BALENCIAGA. In hindsight, a more targeted strategy, rather than a broad marketplace approach, could have steered Farfetch towards a more sustainable and profitable course. The concept of a universal marketplace model triumphing in the luxury sector now seems,"Farfetched" 😊   What’s your take? #Luxury e-commerce as a category is cracking under pressure. Demand is down as consumers continue to feel the pressures of inflation, and the competitive tension rises as luxury e-commerce sites are left to grapple both amongst one another and against brands’ increasing direct-to-consumer investments. On Monday, Farfetch narrowly escaped - potential - bankruptcy, thanks to South Korean e-commerce giant Coupang, which acquired the #luxury e-tailer and injected $500 million into the company. As a result, the Farfetch-Yoox-Net-a-Porter deal is dead. In October, Farfetch was cleared to buy a 47.5% stake in loss-making Yoox Net-a-Porter (YNAP) from Swiss luxury conglomerate Richemont, an agreement first announced in August 2022. Buying its rival would have been a signal to the industry that Farfetch had won the e-#commerce battle. But by the end of November, troubles at Farfetch threw the deal into uncertainty. With the #Farfetch deal off the table, Richemont is left to rethink loss-making Yoox Net-a-Porter’s future.
