This is our second deployment in the US with our partner Beep, Inc., a leading provider of autonomous shared mobility solutions and services. I’m really excited to see that our decade of innovation and refinement is helping companies like Beep continue to provide safe, efficient and sustainable passenger solutions. Another milestone moment for Oxa and our commitment to unlock the value of self driving technology to every person and organisation on the planet. We are building the Oxa Driver to deliver Universal Autonomy. That means building generalisable software that can operate in any domain (on and off public highways) and in any vehicle. It also means scaling from city to city, place to place and route to route in a frictionless and automated way. AI is enabling Oxa to discover novel ways of accelerating development, increasing performance and generalising capabilities, all whilst maintaining our steadfast position on safe, validated and explainable systems. This is the Oxa Way. But after all is said and done - and to borrow from one of the people I’ve appreciated most in my career, Andy Jassy - “there is no compression algorithm for experience”. You have to anchor to customers, learn with them from real world experience, innovate with them and for them to discover ways of optimising the customer experience. This too is the Oxa Way. We are rolling out Oxa Driver for shared passenger transportation to 10 cities across 2 continents and with 3 OEM platform partners this year. In parallel Oxa Driver will be deployed to unlock value in the retail sector, the freight logistics sector, the airport logistics sector and the energy sector, all with real customers, generating real value, this year and all with the same configurable Oxa Driver platform. It was my pleasure to speak on two panels yesterday at the #AutonomyLondon AV mobility summit on behalf of #Oxa yesterday. Thank you to David Wong, Dr Richard F., Michael Talbot, Karla Jakeman, Ben Loewenstein, Nicolas Morael, Deniz Cetin and the Autonomy London team for two fascinating discussions. And wishing Steven Russell a speedy recovery! We touched on some really important themes: 📃 The new UK Government needs to progress with secondary legislation under the Automated Vehicles Act 2024 as soon as possible to maintain momentum. This shouldn't be done in isolation - industry needs a 'glidepath' to authorisation; we need to understand how to generate the necessary evidence through on-road trialling, 🚌 We need 'native driverless vehicles' to scale the technology. If the industry only has access to conventional vehicles that need retrofitting with ADS hardware, deployment will be limited. We can't augment public transport without scalable self-driving technology, 💡 What does society want to achieve with autonomy? What is the new UK Government's objectives for self-driving vehicles? The industry needs to understand how to get from authorisation all the way to customers using the technology, from public passengers to freight operators. A clear vision will set out a clear path to commercialisation, benefitting UK plc and the public. And, we mustn't forget that understanding what the public wants from autonomy is fundamental to its success. Congratulations to #Labour following their electoral success. Lots of work to be done over the next five years to reaffirm the UK's world-leading position on self-driving vehicles.

Too many "innovations" aren't really innovations. I've seen plenty of amazing transformative technologies this week at DRIFTx 2024. But there's also a flip side: an autonomous mini-bus circulator that makes 7 jerky stops in a clear parking lot at only 10 mph is a wasted effort. It's already behind what Waymo and others are doing in San Francisco and other places, and is not going to improve anything. Focus on what's going to make a real difference. #transportation #urbanmobility

Self-driving shuttles, driven by Oxa and operated by Beep, are now on the road in Lake Nona within the Orlando, Florida city limits.  Helping to cut congestion and carbon emissions, these electric, autonomous shuttle systems are boosting economic growth and connecting more people, to more places. Contrast that to recent research showing a huge number of urban taxis run empty, with data suggesting 70% of taxi trips in Seattle were without passengers. US statistics for passenger shuttles are very different, with these shared vehicles running with passengers for 86% of the time on average. The numbers strengthen the already compelling case for a transition to more sustainable mobility solutions. 🌟 Exciting Developments in Automated Vehicle Legislation 🌟 The ULTIMO project aims to revolutionize public transportation by deploying economically viable, large-scale Automated Vehicle (AV) services, prioritizing passenger needs and sustainability. By adopting a holistic approach, ULTIMO seeks to integrate AVs seamlessly into city landscapes, offering on-demand, door-to-door services for enhanced accessibility and inclusivity. In line with these goals, the European Commission's recent adoption of groundbreaking legislation marks a significant milestone. In 2022, the EU introduced the first worldwide legislation for the type-approval of Automated Driving Systems, paving the way for the introduction of fully Automated Vehicles into the European market. This comprehensive framework not only sets standards for industry but also provides clarity for Approval Authorities across EU member states. The regulation, outlined in EU Regulation 2022/1426, introduces innovative elements to support the operationalization of vehicles operating without the presence of a driver. With a focus on harmonization and safety, the EU aims to ensure consistent practices and facilitate the seamless integration of AVs into urban environments.
